Unable to complete wireless installation of HP Photosmart C4380 All-in-One

Installation goes along smoothly until the very end - At first it informs me that installation is complete and the printer is up and running but then an hour glass appears and continues to turn over and over and then a window opens with that scary sound effect and it says Fatal Error has occurred.  It also indicates that the Configuring Your Product step is only 96% complete.  I don't know why this is happening and cannot figure it out.  I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the printer 3x, but same thing every time.  Any ideas?

HP D7200 photosmart with same problem with hourglass and fatal error repeatedly coming up whenever I am on the computer

Lost Hp photosmart C4380 installation disc

You can download the drivers/softwares for your printer from the Hp official website (click here), once you click this link, your printer's download page will open up, you'll need to click the operating system's name before you proceed with the download. After operating system is selected, you'll be able to see all the available drivers/softwares for your printer for the selected operating system.

If you need further help, let me know with more details.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Wireless connection issues

First open services goto start Run type services.msc and see for the entries (hp cue discovery , hpqcxs08 and hp network device) and make sure they are enabled.
Then Goto device manager (Right click on computer and then properties then device manager) Here click on View and show hiden devices and under network adaptors see if you have a red X on HP Printers then delete all he etries you have for HP here (If t prompters a restart restart later) after you have deleted all you may restart your computer.
Then start to install or add a device from the disk.
If it finds the printer do not click on next got to device manager then view and show hiden devices and see if you have the HP Printer with a Red X if yes right click on it and enable it (If it prompts a restart DO NOT RESTART) close this device manager window and in the instalation widow click on next and it should complete the installation.

Can my HP Photosmart C4380 support Microsoft Office Professional 2007 Fax and Scan? Or must the HP fax and scan only be used?

Sorry, Fax and Scan is part of Windows Vista not MS Office. I have been advised by PC World team that this printer (HP Photosmart C4380) does not have the necessary drivers to support Vista Fax and Scan wirelessly and can only operate with the HP Fax and Scan which is very basic and only seems to function via USB cable, not wirelessly. Update drivers may become available.

Trying to instal photosmart C4380 all in one wirelessly on toshiba L40-17M from supplied disc installed printer ok first time but scanner not recognised, scan button says computer connected but computer...

Photosmart C4380: good hardware, appalling software. Shameful that it's on the market at all.

WIRELESS PROBLEM

You have to install the printer as USB first. Then, once it's all installed, load up the CD again and 'Add device', choosing the wireless option. It's crucial that you leave your USB cable in the whole time. Take it out right at the end. Once you've added a device, you'll have two printers installed. One will be called 'Copy 1' - that's the wireless one. It should all work okay, and you can delete the USB one.

SCAN PROBLEM AND ERROR MESSAGES

When I did this everything seemed to work fine. BUT - after a wee while the software started playing up. The scan function didn't work at all, HP was depositing all sorts of bugs all over my computer, I had error messages coming up at shutdown, all sorts of gremlins.

So this is what I did.

I totally uninstalled all HP software.

I downloaded the updated Photosmart Basic Drivers from the HP website. They are here: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=3221646&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&submit.y=11&submit.x=9&lang=en&cc=us

Once you've downloaded the file and run it, the new drivers will be installed but NO SOFTWARE. Again, you have to do the whole setting it up as USB and then leaving the cable in and adding the device wirelessly. But if you do this with the HP drivers and ignore the installation CD, then everything should work perfectly.

Of course this means no HP software at all. But who needs it? I use Microsoft's scanning software, which is fine, and it has no problem printing.

Basically HP's software is BLOATWARE that doesn't even work. It screws up your computer.

Good luck!!

Unable to complete wireless installation of HP Photosmart C4380 All-in-One

I had the same problem where I could get the HP Printer to access the router due to MAC filtering. I tried hard to find the MAC Address of the printer but was unsuccessful as it was not printed anywhere on the box or printer. But this link really helped me:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01123173&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3221646&dlc=en&lang=en

I printed it out and it had the MAC address on it... Configured my router and it's now working great... Hope this solves your problems
