SOURCE: Grease stains from Maytag MAV7200AWW washer

HI! I just posted a question to "justask.com" and am having the exact same problem. I paid $9 for this answer and was happy to pay it because I now know what it is! From what I have been told, it is from the transmission in your washer and will cost at least $400 to fix it (that's just a ballpark figure... I have a Frigidaire and that was the figure I was given). So, basically, it would be more cost effective for you to purchase a new washer.

SOURCE: washer is leaving grease all over my clothes

I have this problem on my front loading washer too, but only when washing white clothes. I have just read that perhaps the inlet hose is disintegrating from the hot water being too hot. The hose disintergration can cause black greasy stains on the clothes. I am going to check out the inlet hose when I get home. Hopefully this is the problem... I am sure a new inlet hose is a lot cheaper than a new transmission or new bearings. BTW, my washer in only 18 months old.

SOURCE: my washer stains my clothes.

The brown stains are likely coming from the felt drum seal. The OEM adhesive is tar based - and after time and use - breaks down.

You'll need a new felt seal - and the adhesive that is used should be silicone based... eliminating the brown streaks.

Clothes have dark streaks after washing this is a kenmore front loading washer model number 417.42142100

I read post after post about this very same problem, it is caused by a failure of the bearing that the tub rides on, this causes the grease seal to leak and then the streaks which are grease stains from the rear bearing

Every once and a while after a load the cloths come out with dark stains on them. Grease maybe or hot water hoses breaking down?

it could be grease that has strated to leak out of the bearings try replaceing hoses 1st if it grease after a heavy load that is when most strain would be put on t bearings thus forceing grease out also if grease the machine will start to get noisey a sure sign of bearing troubles

I am getting stains on my dark clothes that look like oil stains.

Check that the dispenser is clean, it may be gunged up with black gunge, use soda crystals and put machine on hottest wash. If all is clean it could be down to seal gone in drum letting grease into system. Good luck, let me know how it goes.

Grease-like stains on clothing

hi. i can help. the grease is coming from one of two places. Either some item with grease on it got placed in the machine and the grease transferred to the tub where it will cause the problem until it is spotted and removed with a degreaser, or wears off.

OR the grease is coming from the washer itself. Perhaps some grease oozed out of the mechanicals related to the aggitator.

Either way I would get a strong flash light or trouble light and look carefully in the tub and around the aggitator for grease. Then remove it with a cloth and some degreaser, available at any auto parts store.

Hoover 800 RL toploading washing machine

if you use liquid fabric softner that is what it is sort of looks like grease what happens is that softner gunks up and gets up under the agitator then when your lighter clothes are washing it shows up you need to take some stuff called washer magic and just follow the directions on the bottle

Dark grease stains on the cloths after drying

Most likely a bearing failure, a seal that retains grease has given up and is spewing into the drum through a shaft opening of some kind.

If you are positive there is no grease in some of the clothes, or someone is putting it in the drum, then a seal has failed, and now that the grease is coming out, the bearing it is was supposed to lubricate is now low, and will fail prematurely, you need a service call and soon.

GE dryer, black grease stain on cloth

I have the same problem, I haven't resolved it but it seems to be due to the drum of the dryer being able to move more than it's supposed to and things getting caught in between the drum and whatever it sits in, at the front of the dryer. I have found things caught in there before and when I've pulled them out they had a brown/yellow grease stain on them. Other times something in the dryer will have this same stain - although no longer caught it seems it must have been caught at some point then became free again, with the stain. I'm thinking something is loose or if the drum is supported at the back by a bearing of some sort, this bearing may be worn down and the drum isn't sitting right.
