Hi, i 've Olympus CAMEDIA 470 Zoom digital camera. i want to use it as webcam. let me know if it can be used and how? will it really damage zoom or not/

If your has an A/V-out port and a cable that lets you output to a TV, you should be fine. If your computer already has a video input-many do, particularly ones marketed as media PCs-then you're all set: You can just plug the camera into your computer and turn on the camera.
If your computer doesn't have a video input, you can buy an inexpensive USB capture device for $5 to $10 on eBay, or a brand new EasyCap Video Capture Adapter for $15. The same device can let you watch TV on your computer, too, since the encoding hardware is the same-look for a TV-tuner-plus-video-capture USB adapter for $30 to $50 instead. You'll need to install the driver that comes with the device, but not the video-editing software. Simply run your favorite IM client; with the capture device's driver installed; the IM client should find your camera and let you use it as your webcam for video conferences.

I hooked up my Canon PowerShot to a desktop PC using a $15 video-capture dongle and simply ran iChat, selecting the video device as my input. I was videoconferencing within minutes.
With some cameras the audio will be sent along with the video. If that's not the case with yours, set your computer's audio input to its microphone.

I should connect my Sony DCR-HC23E DV Digital Camcorder with a PC windows 7 ultimate USB port. I can't find drivers for compatibility

The USB streaming driver for the Camcorder is not available from Sony at this point. Hence it is not possible to transfer videos using USB interface. You may use i.LINK or A/V interface to transfer videos from the Camcorder to the Computer which is running on Windows 7 Operating System.

Please follow the steps to transfer video to a computer using an i.LINK connection (IEEE 1394).
IMPORTANT: Video capture software and a compatible video capture card must be installed on the computer. Depending on the computer manufacturer, various video capture cards and software (Adobe Premiere, Roxio Video Wave, Microsoft Windows Movie Maker, etc.) may be available or already installed on your computer. If necessary, contact the manufacturer of your computer for further information.
NOTE: Many Sony VAIO computers are bundled with Sony DVgate Motion or DVgate Plus software for video capturing. Some VAIO computers also include Click To DVD software that will allow video capture to the computer hard drive or directly to a DVD.

  1. Connect an i.LINK cable (also known as IEEE 1394) to the i.LINK port on the digital camcorder.

i.LINK Cable.

i.LINK port.

shajanrs_53.jpg

  1. Connect the other end of the i.LINK cable to the computer.

NOTE: The computer i.LINK ports and capture cards may have either 4-pin or 6-pin connections. Sony digital camcorders use i.LINK ports with 4 pins. If your computer only has a 6-pin i.LINK port, then it will be necessary to use a 4-pin to 6-pin i.LINK cable.

  1. Turn on the digital camcorder by moving the POWER switch to the VTR position.
  2. Cue the camcorder tape to the beginning of the video footage.
  3. Turn on the computer.
  4. Start the video capture software on the computer.
  5. Begin playing the recorded video in the camcorder.
  6. Begin importing the video with the capture software.

It should now be possible to copy the video using the video capture software if the computer hardware and software are configured correctly.

Firewire

Okay then let's start with that. Download the drivers from:

http://www2.panasonic.com/consumer-electronics/support/Cameras-Camcorders/Camcorders/MiniDV-Camcorders/Drivers-Downloads/model.PV-GS39.D#ts

Install the drivers and you should be good to go! Let me know if you're having any problems after that.

Windows Vits driver for sony trv-265e

You shouldn't need one. You will need a program to capture video to your computer such as Pinnacle Studio. Once the software is installed you simply plug your computer in and turn it on. The drivers will install and the Studio program will execute. Then go to the capture portion of the program to copy the video to your hard drive.

It's software controlled in Windows getting a driver won't suffice getting the job done.

Cannot get sound or colour to work

Sound:

I had exactly the same problem and solved it by updating the drivers for the USB sound/audio device.

My XP version is in Swedish so I´m not sure what it says in English, but it should say something like the following.

Go to the "Device manager" by right clicking on "This computer" and choosing "Properties", locate the "USB sound/audio device" under the "Sound, Video and Game"-category and right click and chose "Update drivers". Then chose "Search for drivers on the internet" and chose "Recommended installation".
My new drivers are called "USB EMP Audio Device". They work perfectly. Of course you have to chose these drivers under "Options/Input source".

I wasn´t able to update the actual EasyCap video adapter, but it doesn´t seem to matter if you´re having problems with the sound.

Video:

Click on "File", then "Preferences" then "Capture" flap, check the "Allow access to capture device´s settings" box, click "OK". Go the the "Capture" flap in the main window and chose "Capture video". Now you should see "Options", click and chose "Capture properties", then "Video capture filter", click "Properties" in the same window and the chose the correct "Videostandard", for example "NTSC" for USA and "PAL" for Europe. Try all of the alternatives until you get a picture.

Make sure you have chosen the right input source under "Options (see above/Input source". Chose Composite or S-video (you´re likely using composite). I can´t use an S-videocable, only a videocable, otherwise the picture turns black and white.

Now you should see something, if not, maybe something went wrong when you installed the drivers/software.

Hope this helps!

Computer mode

hi follow this steps: Make sure that you have installed the USB driver for the handycam. You can download the drivers from this link: Sony Asia Pacific Support Website--Download Page for HC40E USB Driver for Windows. Connect the handycam to the AC adaptor (the same as putting it on charge). Set the handycam to USB stream mode. (Press P-menu, press MENU, Press EDIT/PLAY, Press USB MODE, Press USB Stream.) Set the tape at the point from where you want to start capturing in PC. Connect the handycam and the PC with the USB cable. (USB-Mode appears on the handycam LCD / viewfinder.) Start Windows Movie Maker. Click on the 'Capture..' link to start the wizard. Select the Sony Digital Imaging Device. Click Next. Specify the file name and path for the capture video. Click Next. Select the desired capture format and Click Next. (Leave it to recommended setting if you are not sure.) The dialog box now displays the Start Capture and End Capture buttons on the left and preview window on the right. Play the tape on the handycam. The video from handycam should appear in the preview window of WMM. Click the Start Capture button to start capturing the video. Click End Capture to pause or stop recording. Click the Finish button. The .wmv file will be saved in the path specified in step 7.

Pc does not see my jvl gr-dvl300u, why? is port wrong or what?

Try reversing the actions you made to see if you can restore operation of your capture program. And if you do, I would suggest that you do not reinstall in your computer the software for the still pictures since there is a conflict. Better still, If you have a system restore point dated before you introduced the still software, I would try that first . Good luck!
