Bad signal and if you do get signal you have a wrong address

A "repeater" cannot give an IP address only pass the request back to the main router. You could set a fixed IP in the phone but that would screw it when away from your router.
Something is going wrong with DHCP requests passed through your repeater. Check the settings.

Basically what you have done is plugged it in but did not set up the router on a static or dynamic IP address.

Once you have established the IP address of the router and it is recognized by your ISP device (DSL, Cable, Satellite modem ....etc etc.) then you have to decide which device will be the DNS server and assign IP address to all the wireless devices that connect to it.


Lots of things can be wrong. You need to follow the steps on the set up link i gave you properly and in the correct order

You need a router. The switch won’t give any up addresses. And the modem will only give one address.

If your GPS is not finding any address, then the most likely cause is that the wrong country map is loaded or the map is corrupted as finding an address does not rely on getting any satellite signals (your GPS should at least show your home location or the last known position on the 'correct' map): I suggest that you look at your specific GPS user manual to find how to check that you have the correct map loaded: if it is the case, then find the instruction on how to 'reset' your GPS as its software may be corrupted.

Is your desktop getting an ip address from the router?
You said that you reset the router, do you mean turning it on and off or pressing the reset button?

Sounds like a faulty unit to me?

you need to get into the routers settings and look for DHCP, and enable it so as to give your pc's there automatic ip addresses, also check in the general settings if it's a modem router that you have got a internet connection from your ISP and all the dns and ip addresses are showing. Go to the properties of each network card in network connections in your control panel and click on the TCP/IP line and click properties again and ensure obtain ip address automatically is selected and click ok. Restart all pc's if neccasary and refresh your web browser when trying to get online.
