When I try to use Photosmart Premier, I get a message that says it is trying to install HP Product Assistant. It can't install all the way then it tells me to insert the disk containing HP Product Assistant or find the folder containing HP Product Assistant.msi. I don't have either one. What do I do. Even when I try to close out the error message, it keeps trying to install again and I get the error message again, over and over.

remove printer from the com and then give add device. If still problem exists, connect using USB

To get rid of hp product assistant follow these steps:
Click on start then click on run (for XP).
(If u have vista them use the search box which appears when u click on start.)
under run type msconfig and then click on ok. you will get the system configration utility.
At the top right you will get a option that will say startup click on that you will get the list of startup items uncheck the hp product assistant then click on apply and then on ok restart the computer.
That should do it for you.

This is quite an easy fix. If you have the original CD for the HP printer you have installed, next time it pops up, just insert the CD let it find the software it is looking for. The message should go away.
If it does not resolve it, your other option is to download the Installer Clean-Up Utility from Microsoft and uninstall the 'Product Assistant'. But if you have the disk, the first method is easier.

Just go to add and remove program and uninstall the HP Product assistant is there and it will go fine

Complete uninstallation and installation will also help

Start>Run>Msconfig <enter>

Under 'Startup' and 'Services', look for your HP Product Assistant, and remove the checkmark.

Reboot your computer.

The only way to get rid of this is to uninstall the software and drivers and reinstall them with the customer installation option. from there you can select what you want to install and what you do not. unselect the product assistant and enjoy!

Did the printer come with a software cd?

An 'HP Product assistant window keeps popping up and will not close down when I try to close it. It's been happening the last three days when I've been printing alot. The second window then pops up stating that I need an installation CD to re-install something!!! What is causing this?I have the same problem. really anoying! I am having this same problem!!!! What can I delete to fix this~!!!!!!
