I hate Vista as well. i am trying to find a solution. my whole life over the past couple of years is wrapped up in the eventminder and fmnot32 files but after installing Creatacard on my machine with Vista, it will not recognize the files.
i open my address book, it's empty. i open my calendar it too is empty. how can i get this program to recognize the files i copied from the old machine? PLEASE HELP! i've tried everything including dragging them both over at the same time (file plus .BAK). i don't know what else to do.
IT'S BEEN A YEAR! When Vista came out. I knew that of course I would get a new laptop and that of course I would bring over my favourite calendar and address book of all time. It's the one packaged with CreataCard Gold 2! I've been using computers since the Commodore 64 and never before have I had something that is as user friendly as this program by Broderbund. Sadly, it didn't work when I brought the files over. I did everything I could think of.
It's an entire year later and after decidedly not giving up, I FINALLY was able to get all my info transferred over!
Don't be upset. I don't know exactly how I did it. All I know is that I was in some data subfolder that LOOKED like the one in the CreataCard's set of folders but it wasn't. It was something called VIRTUAL. I got to it after accidentally pressing a button I think was called COMPATABILITY. The button brought forth a bunch of files I had created over the past year in other card programs incl. American Greetings CreataCard 6 or something like that. Anyways, when the listing came forth, I noticed the files were mostly my different card creations however, there was an FMNOT32.dat file in there. That immediately struck me as strange since I knew I had copied and pasted four files into the regular Data folder. I copied and pasted the Event Minder and FMNNOT32 files as well as there .bak files. I made sure to do it simultaneously in one drag and drop. God must have whispered in my ear or something because I somehow thought, hey, what if this guy is conflicting with the other guys.......so, I timidly yet bravely right mouse clicked on it and hit DELETE! Then throwing all caution to the wind (knowing I had the files on my WD external HD) I went ahead and emptied my Recycling box.
I can't tell you the relief I am feeling today and that I will continue to feel for eternity. (No, after a year of fiddling with this stupid this, I AM NOT EXAGGERATING!) I opened the Forget Me Not Reminder program and it's all there! It's all there!!!! My addresses, my life over the past 6 years. I feel like crying tears of relief.
I really hope this helps someone because believe you me, I would have sooooo appreciated getting to this point last year. Just the same, I am happier to have this awesome calender/reminder program back than words could ever express!

I was having the same problems with Forget Me Not. I went to my old computer and into Windows explorer/C:/program files/creatacard. There you will find two files Data and Gold. I downloaded both those files on a thumb drive. I then went to my computer with Vista, and went to the same place. I deleted data and gold, I then went to my thumb drive and installed both Data and Gold on my computer with Vista. It now works find, I shut down Windows security alerts and also went to Start/creatacard and dropped down a list that said forgetme not tray icon, Things are now running fine. I hope this helps you all.
I just got a new computer with windows 8.1 pro. My forget me not calendar and address book won't work either. I did the same thing that I did to get it to work on my windows xp pro. But it keeps telling me I am missing a simple.dll. I have no idea what that is or where to find it. I am not sure if the name is really 'simple' or if it means it is a simple one to create. I loved the fact that you could print address labels from the address book and would gladly buy a new program that was supported by windows 8 but none that I have found has the feathers and was as simple as the AG Forget me not one. If anyone knows anything, please e-mail me with the subject: address book to [email protected]. Thanks

If you take the sound plug from your speakers it will work on windows 7, dont ask me why, but it was an accident, I didnt have my speakers pluged in and it worked, tried plugging my speakers back in and it wouldnt work
To run Create a Card 3 in Windows 7 you MUST be running either Professional or Ultimate version. The calendar will work, but the program will not.
Download and install the Windows Virtual PC, follow the instructions exactly
----------------------------------
INSTALLATION OF CREATACARD, ORIGINAL CD AND PURCHASED VARIETY PACKS - this installation will preserve all of your variety pack purchases as well as any saved cards you have and your forgetmenot calendar data. (assuming you were wise enough to make a backup of your data and your vp.cc1 file) If you weren't wise enough, this installation will at least install a usable createacard program. There will be no way to repurchase or get back your purchased variety packs or even the plus to gold upgrade.
Open Start>All Programs>Windows Virtual PC>Windows XP Mode
When XP Mode starts, click on the START menu in the XP mode environment and click on RUN
1. Insert application cd to but instead of using autorun, in the Run box, type in X:\setup full (x represents theletter of your dvd drive) . This will install the entire program on your hard disk so you won't need to insert the program cd every time you want to run creatacard.
5. Code for Free fonts is 1513 - don't click on register, you've already registerd.
Click on the other button and insert the code.
2. Find YOUR copy of the vp.cc1 file in the WXP mode environment c:\windows directory - put a copy of it in the C:\programs\creatacard\Plus directory. This will make your purchased variety packs available on a new install of creatacard. Your copy is the one that holds the keys to all of your registered variety packs. If you don't have this copy then you will NOT be able to unlock your purchased packs. ALWAYS keep a backup copy of vp.cc1
Now that the program is installed - again open the WXP Start menu inthe WXP environment:
3. To use your purchased variety paces, Insert your Variety Packs CD and Run the Create A Card Variety Pack utility in the Start menu Create a Card folder. The utility will show each variety pack you have purchased, click on each one at a time and choose to use it either installed on on your hard disk (best choice if you don't want to have to insert the VP disk each time you need to use it) Choose the default Createacard Content folder.
6. Copy ALL of the data in your old CC Data Folder located in C:\programs\creatacard\Data to the Creatacard program Data folder in the WXP mode environment, C:\programs\creatacard\Data , this has all of your saved cards and your calendar information in it.
To make the program work, just change the user account control to administrator.

CreataCard 3 will not install in Windows Vista.
Creatacard 3gold installed ok in vista, but would not allow changes to my existing fmnot32.dat file. Still looking for an answer. The more I use Vista, the more I hate it.
I have been looking for years for a program with forget me not that will be compatible with Vista. I have had my old program for years and it has my life attached to it. WHAT DO I DO??? I make about 40 calendars for Christmas a year and I haven't been able too in the last 2 years. I still have my old computer on my kitchen table, so I still ahve all the addresses I need....it sucks!!!
vista will not let me open my creatacard files either. Creatacard is 32 bit and vista is 64 bit. I wish they had a new version that works on vista that will let me get into my saved work. This is so frustrating. Can anyone help me?
Cannot open forgetmenot in XP. It used to work but will not work after SP3 installed. Tried to reinstall but no luck.
