The problem is the refilled cartridges. most inkjet printers cannot function with refilled cartridges due to the fact that sometimes when the cartridge is refilled, it is damaged. you need to buy and use genuine original canon cartridges. this will cost you a little more money but is will save you the headaches

I changed theblack ink cartridge twice and it still won't print in black, colours are printing but no black

Ink level data is stored in a chip of the cartridge. Once the cartridge is empty, ink low message will appear eventhough you refill the cartridge. You need to deactivate ink level detection function to continue printing in case of usage of refill ink .

Search google on how to change ink level detection

I'm trying to use refilled ink cartridges in my Canon MP530, but I get a V (or U) 130 error message. Any thoughts?

CHECK INK
A.
U130

An ink tank that was once empty is installed.
Replace the ink tank.
Printing under the situation may damage the Print Head.
Canon shall not be liable for any machine malfunction or damage caused
by refilled ink tanks.
If you want to continue printing with the refilled ink tank installed, press
and hold the [Stop/Reset] for at least 5 seconds, and then release it. Using
refilled ink tanks are memorized.
* This operation will release the function for detecting the remaining ink
level

B.
i am not sure but is working on 520
1. print mono or print color for color
2.stop
3.ok
4.on/off
  1. Switch the printer OFF
  2. Press buttons 1 + 2 + 3 and 4 (simultaneously using four fingers)
  3. Keep pressing this four buttons for 10 seconds
  4. Release the On/Off button (number 4) (Keeping pressing the others)
  5. After a few seconds (when the printer go ON) you can release buttons 1, 2, 3
  1. Maybe step "c)" is not needed
  2. This procedure was used when I refilled the Black cartridge - try using the ColorCopy button instead of BlackCopy button (number 1) if you refill Color cartridge.
  3. Maybe there is no need for all the four buttons - you can try 1 + 4, 2 + 4 or 3 + 4. (or 1+2+4, 1+3+4, 2+3+4)

How do I reset the cartridges after refilling?

There are two ways to reset the detection of the cartridges.

1. to reset it after refilling the ink cartridges. This is use to avoid the printer from detecting the cartridge as reused one.

2. to reset it after the ink from a refilled cartridge ran out and the printer successfully detected it and disable your printing function.

Follow the complete steps on the reset procedure in My Helpful Tip I Posted Here In Fixya.Com. just click the link below.

Have replaced cartridge with one of my refilled cartridges in a canon PIXMA MP830, and am getting an alarm U071,that reads "more than one ink tank of the following color is installed". This is of course...

Printers have a mechanism to detect refilled cartridges. By default it does not accept refilled ones. But there's a work around. Have a set of two (preferably 3) cartridges , refill and cycle them. This way the printer wont be able to detect that you have inserted a refilled cartridge.

How can i let my printer to detect and accept the ink?

I have the same problem. According to another site I visited you will not be able to solve your problem by refilling the 28 cartridge (black ink). You will need to purchase a 28A ink cartridge which is refillable.

Refilling Ink in Canon Pixma MP830

Hello, I found this in a repair manual for the MP830. summery is to press and hold the stop/reset button for 5 or more seconds. I copied the info from the manual too. The remaining ink amount unknown. [1683] (Applicable ink tank icon) The remaining level of the following ink cannot be correctly detected. An ink tank which has once been empty is installed. Replace the applicable ink tank with a new one. Printing with a once-empty or refilled ink tank can damage the print head. If printing is continued without replacing the refilled ink tank, press the Stop/Reset button for 5 sec. or longer to record the use of a refilled ink tank. Note: After the above operation, the function to detect the remaining ink amount is disabled.
