Both sources through the component video have banding problems. Some techs have said that it could be an issue with the ground loop. Whether I use a 6' or 30' component cable, the issue still arises. I had an Infocus X1 projector and there were no banding problems. Do you have any suggestions for solving this problem?

hi, u can convert the vga input of ur projector to component video input, and u can connect ur ps3's component video to the projector. component video to vga convection cables are available. ok
I the green banding is well defined with sharp edges then it's most likely an electronics problem.
If it's a blurry banding then it may be degradation of the filters. Cleaning the LCD panels is relatively easy when the top cover is taken off, and the main processor board removed. However great care is needed to ensure no connectors or cables are broken, and are replaced properly during reassembly.
Most DLP projectors have a colour wheel. It's usually hard to get at,
and you may have to actually remove everything including the optical
block from the projector to access it. This wheel turns on a motor just
like a fan, and if it gets dirty it can act up just like a fan.
They are expensive to replace, so you might want to try taking it apart
and cleaning it out. Add a small amount of 3 in 1 oil to the motor if
you can.
If you're using the VGA port, you'll see the banding because it's not really showing 720p, it's doing scaling (I'm not sure from what resolutions it's scaling). So, even though you're using VGA at 1280x720, the scaling is still going on and it's showing the banding.
You can get high defintion by connecting
a cable that is component video source on one
end your (dvd) and VGA (to projector)on the other. This cable is
available from cables to go.
