Error codes E1 F2 whirlpool super capacity 465 oven

I have a whirlpool super capacity self cleaning oven...it keeps showing error codes E1 and F2....what does this mean ?!...how do i fix ?!

  • Anonymous Sep 18, 2010

Thanks for the responses, After my post I found the schematic with the error code list. I played with the ribbon cable and also sprayed the control board with contact cleaner. After a few attempts the error code didn't come back but the oven temp was indicated in Celsius and the oven wouldn't heat up. A replacement control board was a little less than $300 for a $500 range. So my wife has a new range now. B) Thanks again

HI. This code is a good indication of a separated key pad ribbon or the actual key pad may be damaged. Use the procedure below to isolate the culprit.

1. Check keypad connector for firm connection (keypad connects to control board).
2. Press CANCEL. If error code returns after 60 seconds, replace keypad (also called touch pad or membrane switch). Some models incorporate keypad in to control board as one unit. In this case, replace control board (also called ERC or clock).

I think that the keypad ribbon is not making a good connection. The ribbon just slips into the slotted plastic connector. Is there a simple way to make a tighter connection where the ribbon slips into the connector?

you don't need a "professional" to solve this problem or even to order any parts. E1 -F2- = the keytail (connector ribbon) that plugs into the control board is not making good contact. first unplug your range and then remove the two screws on the underside of the back-splash controls panel to access the back of the control board. now simply cut a slip of heavy paper such as a business card to the width of the ribbon and slide it into the slot along with the ribbon connector. that will help press the contacts on the other side together snuggly. screw the back-splash back in place, plug in your range, and the problem will vanish. if the error ever returns, try pulling out the connector, cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser, reinserting it into the slot and repeat above with the paper. good luck.

Whirlpool oven timed bake feature dosn't work.

F1-E1 - EEPROM Checksum Error - Disconnect power for at least 30 seconds and then reconnect.
Allow at least a minute after power has been restored and if error code reappears, replace control board (clock).

The E1- F5 error is a door lock error.

The control (TIMER) has likely failed in this instance - BUT...

Sometimes when you disconnect power to a range and reconnect it the electronic range control gets confused.
You should disconnect power again for 15 seconds and reconnect and see if that helps.

If it doesn't cure the E1- F5 error hold the bake button in until E0- F2 appears in the display.
This is the error for a stuck button on the keypad and is the way to clear the memory of the electronic range control.

Sometimes these work, but if the control has failed it won't make any difference.
