If you have downloaded any form of media (audio, video or photos) check your incomplete folder and delete..delete part (keep up to 2-3 months ago) of the cookies that a laptop/pc tend to just keep and it builds up...then search for hidden folders by going to my computer/tools/folder option/view/click on show hidden files and okay..........open each hidden file and delete what you might have deleted already (be xtra xtra extra careful not to delete any microsoft windows needed files).when finished click back on the hidden button to hide folders again

Hi Donna. The properties of your hard drive shown when you open Computer (My Computer in Windows XP) help you to see your used and free space. Even though your hard drive has a capacity of 160 GB, useable space is always less because the operating systems were designed to allocate a percentage of the total to be used for various operations necessary for smooth sailing. Right clicking the hard drive icon and selecting properties opens to you tools used to keep your hard drive healthy along with information regarding the hard drives % of use. Try it out if you haven't already. Good Day

My HDDR500E03A 500 GB is only showing 3.98 GB on total memory, what happened to the rest?

The 3.98 GB you are seeing is probably your total RAM memory and not the storage capacity of the hard drive. RAM memory is completely unrelated to the hard drive capacities.

Double click on the MY COMPUTER icon.

You should then see all the disks and drives that are currently connected to your computer. Your USB hard drive should be one of the drives listed there.

Right click on each of them and select PROPERTIES from the menu shown. This will show you the storage capacity of each drive including how much space is used and how much is free (empty).

Good luck.

I have a 4 GB kingston USD pen drive when I try to save data It says no space

Good Day!

See first the free space of your Pen Drive, to do this, go to MY COMPUTER then right click your PEN DRIVE and click properties, you will see how much is the available space. And also try to see the file size that you are copying and compare it to the free space of your Pen Drive. You can't copy file more than the capacity or the free space of your Pen Drive, that is why you come up with that error message.

Hope I was able to help.

To free hard disk space

is the 100Gb divided into 2 partition?
since you have done the show all folder and files. and nothing else show up. you can do a defreg. to compress the drive. you may have lots of fragmented files. (that account for the lost space).
