The above is service and repair information for your camera.

---
Even, the manual says that you can use alkaline, NiMH, or Oxyride batteries. which are generally 1.25V for each AA, try the Lithium batteries which are 1.5V. They might work in your camera if your camera has some characteristic where the voltage falls below a certain limit and the 'battery empty' message shows up.

They are more expensive, but might solve your problem, even though the manual says that Lithium batteries are not to be used (in a new properly functioning camera)

My Sigma SD9 rapidly drains battery power; and I don't mean over a short period of time, but over a few minutes. Regardless of new or fresh rechargeable batteries, the drainage is frustratingly...

For any camera, you need high power re-chargeable batteries - 2300 mAh or 2500 mAh. Try with a set of those. I have heard Eneloop suggested, but have no experience myself.

Is it possible that the battery becomes empty when you don't use it a few months?

Yes it is! the manufacture suggest taking the battery out if the camera sits idle for weeks and months, that way you can have the full use of the battery.

When i turn the camera on it says lens error

There are 2 fixes I know for this you can try.

1. Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.

2. If the camera's batteries ran down completely while the its lens was still open, the camera may show a lens error or not start properly when new batteries are installed. Remove the memory card and keep it removed, then install the new batteries. When you turn the camera on with the card removed it may come back to life, as this triggers a reset in some cameras. You don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the sd card and turn it on one last time.

Empty batteries

Your camera may have been in wet conditions. So "short cut" may have been occurerd. Please firstly put your camera in a hot and dry room. Wait at least one day. After that process. Try again to use with brand new batteries. It will work I think.

Empties batteries in 2 minutes

please insert a new pair of batteries and check weather the camera starts in proper manner. does the flash charges. normally even if the camera operates and switches on in proper manner but if there is any problem in the flash section the flash does not fires or do not charge. and if there is a short circuit in the flash section that will result in warming and consuming up the batteries in no time. the heatin of the batteries itself indicates that there is a short curcuit in the camera.
