I have a Fostex DMT-8vl 8 track digital recorder. Can I dump the tracks to Acid Music Studio 7 or Acid Pro 7 to save what I recorded in the Fostex 8 track, and will it go into seperate tracks? Thanks Anthony

You can copy. You cannot just dump the file data. Unless you have an audio interface with multiple inputs, you can only copy 2 tracks at a time. Also, to sync the timing you'll need a midi port on the computer. Then you make the computer the "master" and the Fostex a "slave" device.

Bounced trks 3&4 to 7&8 clicked on wav file button canceled says out of capacity

You have a memory problem. If you are using a flash card for memory or a CD drive or perhaps you have configured an external drive, you need to free up some space. Try deleting tracks or songs you don't need anymore.

Each song is independent on a CompactFlash
without affecting other songs. You can give a desired song name for managing recorded songs
(see pages 23 and 91).
Recorded track data is stored in a song as mono WAV files.
The MR-8mkII can convert the two WAV files recorded on tracks 7 and 8 (L and R) to a stereo
WAV file (see page 115).
You can export the converted stereo WAV file to your USB-connected personal computer, and
use the file by a music software application or make an original audio CD on the computer using
a CD burn software application. You can also burn an audio CD by using an external CD-R/RW
drive connected via the [USB HOST] port of the MR-8mkII (see page 115 and 123)

How do I record firSt track on my fostex MR - 8 HD digital motor tracker

User manual for the Fostex MR8HD digital multitracker can be freely downloaded here:
www.fostexinternational.com/public/fostex_download.php?f=mr8hd_owners_manual.pdf

It is intended to record tracks off of microphones or musical instruments, mix the tracks, and produce WAV or MP3 cuts or audio CD's.

Pages 21, 35, and 36 tell you how to make your first recording!

HI WHEN DOWNLOADING MY RECORDINGS TO MY DELL 1720 PC THE DOWN LOADED PRODUCT HAS HARDLY ANY VOLUME. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN WITH PRE-RECORDED MUSIC THAT I DOWNLOAD. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?

Ensure your Master output volume is at an acceptable level when recording. The machine will only save audio at the levels which it is recorded.

Also be sure to adjust levels accordingly when bouncing tracks down to one channel. I ussually prefer to set the EQ for these tracks to flat (or zero), as you will have much better results doing the EQ in final mix.

I recorded about an hour of music from records. set cd track markers. wondering how to track the project so each song is a different track, when recorded to a cd. right now it's one long track.

Hi rudempis,

I not familiar with Sony's ACID Music Studio, but think it should have some of the same standard features other music studios have.

You should be able to load the long track that you have and see the graphic representation of the music. Slowly scroll to the right until you see an almost flat line, this will be the pause between songs. Once you find the pause, cut out that section and save it as an individual song. Do this with each song. When your done you should be able to burn all the songs to CD with no problems.

Hope this helps

Maybe stupid question....is it possible to record 8 separate mono tracks on this thing? I cannot seem to select only track 5, 6, 7, or 8. When I try to record onto 5, for example, it is impossible to not...

I believe you have to adjust the levels DURING the bounce operation... I don't think you can do that after.

I would consider using a computer based editing program to handle more than 4 tracks...

My Fostex mr8 hdd "full"

If you can reformat the drive after dumping out anything you want saved MIGHT fix the problem...

The unit MAY not be able to tolerate fragmenting when you delete a snippet here and there... It may require large blocks of contiguous space.

When i lay two tracks down they dont match up how do i fix this problem

your question implies you are recording.
if you are recording from a line in or mic, when you select to record a track a window pops up with a couple of options (radio buttons) in the lower left.
the options offer from project start or current position.

i always select from the start since i only ever record a complete track. however, the selection in the bottom left offer you an opportunity to start recording a track at another point on the time line. (i.e. maybe where the lead guitar comes in)
