I would try the filter first. The filter on your unit should be replaced at least once a year, more often if it gets used a lot or in a very dusty or dirty environment. If the filter is clogged air cannot pass through it just as if you laid a piece of plastic over it which can cause it to blow off.

They had to replace the motor.......filter was good

Same problem here. I replaced filter with an aftermarket part (not OEM), fits fine, still popping out. Motor seems to get really hot.

This seems to be caused by the filter release becoming depressed during use. I have tried fixing this into the locked position with tape, but to no avail. We paid a service engineer to service the unit, but he was unable to resolve this issue.

Dyson dc25

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC25's ball won't rotate freely, it's possible the HEPA post-filter housed inside the ball is out of place and jamming the ball shell.

To resolve this, please remove the post-filter door and replace the post-filter, pressing it firmly into position until you hear and feel a click from the red catch. This is shown in our filter wash video guide below:

This should resolve the issue, but if you find that it happens again I'd encourage you to contact us directly so we can provide further assistance. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Ball on Dyson DC 25 vacuum cleaner won't rotate

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC25. If the ball won't rotate, it's likely that the post-filter is out of place. To resolve this the filter should be removed then pressed back down into place firmly - you should hear and feel a click from the red filter catch once the filter is correctly secured:

If you have any further difficulty with the ball or the filter after giving this a try, please get in touch directly as I'm confident we can resolve this for you. You can reach our experts by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Ball filter is popping up, stopping ball rotating and ball area is getting hot

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25 Animal. If the filter inside the Ball will not stay in place during use, please make sure that when you refit it, it locks into place with an audible 'click'.

I can confirm it's normal for your Dyson to become warm during use, but if you're concerned that it seems excessively hot, I'd encourage you to get in touch with us directly so we can help. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Just got my dyson dc25 but the the ball will not turn, this is the first time using it

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If the Ball doesn't seem to rotate correctly, it might help to check that the post-motor filter is locked securely in place, and that the filter cover is correctly fitted.

The video below shows how to remove, wash and replace both filters - note the way in which the post-motor filter is replaced within the Ball. It should be pushed into place firmly until an audible 'click' is heard.

You should find this resolves your issue. However, if you've tried this and are still concerned, it's probably best if you get in touch with us directly. One of our experts will be happy to run through some troubleshooting over the phone with you, and recommend the best course of action. You can call us free on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

Kind regards,

Jack

When I turn my Dyson ball DC25 vacuum on and engage the brush it makes a screeching noise. I have cleaned the brush and the filters were cleaned a week ago and are in correctly.

Check if the belt still is connected and freely rotating the brush. Dyson vacuum belts are not replaceable. If the belt is going bad, the clutch assembly has to be replaced

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If you haven't tried this already, try pushing the filter firmly into place until you hear an audible click. This should stop the filter popping out of place.

However, if you're still having problems, please get in touch with us, free, on 08002980298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US), so we can run through some checks on the phone, which should hopefully resolve this issue.

Hose attachment

Your wand is getting stuck in the hose because the hose is twisted - you need to unwind it:

1) Pull the wand up as far as you can, all the way if possible
2) Stretch the hose out and unwind it, use some babypowder on the metal part of the wand and in the future, unwind and stretch the hose out after you use it

3) If you can't get the wand all the way out, remove the canister from the front, push the button where you see the 7 vertical grooves (on the opposite side of the hook that you wind the cable around) - then pull on the hook and pull the hose up and off of the machine - stretch the hose out from the bottom and pull the wand out - now apply baby powder to the metal rod and disconnect and stretch and unwind the hose every time after you used the wand to clean.
