there is a small cable to the right of it, if it is loose, reseat it, if not you may need a new fan or a new motherboard,
the im looking for a new motherboard
if thats the case the part number X8582

Hi,
Many PC motherboards (most) monitor important internal parameters, such as temperature, power supply voltages and fan speeds. This is typically monitored through the system BIOS.

If any of these parameters fall outside of their predetermined limits, the system BIOS will issue a warning message and take evasive action to protect your computer from permanent damage:

1) Slow down the CPU
2) Put the CPU to Sleep
3) Refuse to boot
...
...
Etc...

In your case one of the system critical cooling fans has failed,
and the system BIOS is telling you to fix !!!

There are several cooling fans in a modern computer, every computer is different, but common locations for fans include:
0) Power supply
1) CPU chip
2) Video Chips
3) Some MB chip-sets
4) Device cages, such as the Hard-Drive/ CD/DVD cage
5) Power supply
6) Rear chassis
7) Side cover

etc....

Some of these fans plug into dedicated connectors in the mother board, others connect to the main power supply harness. Some are monitored by the mother-board, others are not.

On three wire fans, the mother-board can monitor the fan's RPM by monitoring a built-in tachometer, either voltage or frequency.

On two wire fans the mother-board can monitor the fan current,
or the fan noise frequency.

In your case, there is a malfunctioning fan within the I/O card container cage, which could be the result of:

1) Bad or loose fan connector
2) Defective fan = burned out or mechanically seized
3) Defective mother-board circuit.

To fix the problem, open the case and check if all the fans are spinning. If not, give them a spin by hand to see if they CAN move. Wiggle all connectors. Replace defective fans.

Note that some of the fans may be regulated by temperature, and spin only when the machine gets hot. This is done to reduce noise and save power. Most fans are quite junky, and burn out in a year or so. This is not uncommon.

Hope this hepls

Martin

Why the card cage fan is working faster in dell precision 380 without getting slower?

Don't try to slow down the speed if you don't know the temperature from your processor or your motherboard. Look on the web for a monitor program to see if one of them is getting real warm Like above 60 degrees Celsius. Then your fan will work as hell.
If the computer is a bit older, perhaps the cooling paste, between the processor and the cooling body on the processor is dried. Only use the correct cooling past, and not anything else. Don't allow the processor to heat up above 65 degrees Celsius, because it won't live long after that.
If you do have a monitor program, you could slow down the fan, without any risk.

Hi there? I have problem with my pc dell xps 400 when i turn it on there is message that says card cage fan failure then F1 to continue,so need help how to solve this problem of card cage fan failure?

If you're familiar with PC internals, you can try to open up the casing and vacuum all the fans inside as dust might have collected over the years and stopped it from spinning. Also, check to see which one is not moving when powered up and tighten the power cables for it.
Please take note: - do not do this if you are not familiar with the internals of a PC - be careful not to vacuum too close to the electronics and use a low powered unit as high power vacuums create static that might damage your components

How to change speakers on xps m1330 laptop

The internal speakers I presume. Essentially you have to completely disassemble the system. Remove the battery, all drives, central control cover, LCD, Keyboard, Palmrest, Card cage and motherboard to get to the speakers in the bottom back of the chassis.

Dell XPS 600 beeping noice

there are 2 things that can cause that, memory failure, or mother board, cheeper route to go would be replace your memory first, and see if that corrects the problem, if not then, check anything new you installed inside such as video card, lan cards, of something like that, if that doesn't work you need to have it looked at and possibly the mother board replaced,

Hello at start up of my dell 9150 i have this message "card cage fan failure" so i press F1 and the computer work but do i have a solution to not having this message again?

Yes, you need to replace that fan and not run your computer without it working because it can cause it to overheat and then you'll have to replace a lot more than just a fan. Open up the side of your computer and see which fan is not moving when the computer is turned on but it will be the one attached to the card cage :c)
