Try re-installing the audio driver.
You can download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEBsupport/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or VistaWindows version of the drivers you require and install them. Click on this linkto download the drivers: -

I suggest you install service pack 3 - this is the latest XP service pack

"no audio device" is detected in windows XP spII,

You need to install the audio driver. Go to the Acer WEB site to download the drivers you need, make sure it is Windows XP version for your particular MODEL laptop. Use this link :- http://global.acer.com/support/download.htm By the way, the latest Service Pack for XP is SP3 you should download this and install it, try to borrow SP3 on a CD because it is approx. 350Mb in size.
