I am getting an error message when I turn my brand new computer on.
It states that it "could not locate a valid definition file. Please go to the program options page and click update definitions to download a definitions file". Obviously I have attempted to do this without success of completion. Additionally, same problem as everyone else in that this software doesn't sweep, and that 4 critical shields are off. This is obviously a problem in the software. This software was installed by Best Buy in February 2008

same problem here with the same error messages and the computer freezing. What is the solution? Best Buy did the installation when I bought the computer. Is there a problem with Spy Sweeper software?

Webroot spysweeper won't sweep

i had the same problem getting also an error message when i would log in about a valid definition file and go to program option page to update the definition file, after trying fixes from others i found one that said to reboot computer and put in safe mode, then open spy sweeper in safe mode, everything was in large print and nothing was turned on, so i rebooted the computer again and this time when the screen came up came up normally and not in safe mode and most of all there was no error message, my spy sweeper is now opened and now it is sweeping like it is suppose to do i don't know who was the person that posted the resolution but thanks it works so everyone try it.

Option Page location

This is more than likely a message from your Anti-Virus program. Quick fix would be to uninstall your anti virus program and reinstall it. Or you can just uninstall this AV program and install the free AV program called AVG. Click on AVG to download it. Hope this helps.
