Assuming you already changed the lamp, then the problem is likely in the lamp ballast or the power PWB in the electrical chassis. Error Code 34 is lamp abnormality. If you end up with a solid red lamp light and then need to unplug the AC power cord and then plug the cord back in so to get rid of the red light? Not sure what you are saying about what not turning off. The power still turned off when the red light came on? I assume the red light is a solid red lamp light and not the status light?
then check the following.
Take a look when you turn on the TV, does the lamp come on for about 10 seconds and then turn off? If so, check the power PWB first to see if any of the electrolytic capacitors are bulging.
If you have not done so yet, you should get the service manual for your TV model to see how to disassemble the parts.

When the red light is lit press both the menu and device buttons in on the front of the set in together and hold for 5 seconds then record the two digit blink code that will repeat. I am assuming you will receive a 34 error or a 41Error. But let me know what blink code you get and I will assist you.
Okay, The 34 error code indicates a lamp abnormality. But if your lamp light never turned yellow Its most likely not the lamp. I would suspect bad caps on the power board. there are (2) 3300uf, (2) 2200uf, and (4) 100uf radial capacitors that are prone to fail. Replacing them will most likely fix the issue.
