You need to download your movies with a Firewire cable, you must make sure your PC or Laptop has this socket, the marking near this socket on your computer has a 3 bladed windmill picture. Your cable will set you back about £10 at most good camera shops.

I'm using TRV320 camcorder with IEEE 1394 firewire cable 4pin to 6 pin. Your PC also need 1394 firewire plug which should be available in ebay. AV output is for analog signal and you need to use DV in/out plug for digital signal in your camcorder. Good luck -James
There is an internal battery, but it is a built in and I don't believe it can be removed. However there are clear instructions in the manual on page 69 that detail the steps you should go thru to recharge the exhausted lithium battery for the date.
Hi8 camera has analog video signal / format and needs to be converted in digital format for PC storage /use. Best option available is to hook up Hi8 camcorder with DVD recorder and burn movies on DVD. Now you have digital files of movies and can put in PC.
