Can we bypass the filter and use an outside filter?

We have model ED5NHGXV001. The filters are more $ than we want to spend, and we can get a very good behind the refrigerator filter that lasts for 3 years, and costs significantly less. Is it possible to remove the installed filter from the frig, and bypass it, so we can hook up the less expensive filter?

Yes
just connect the lines in the fridge filter to each other
There are very good ceramic filters available for domestic water supply that can be fitted anywhere in the supply line to the fridge or any other tap for that matter
The ceramic filters had the added advantage that beside being the filter that removes the absolute finest particle, all you have to do is every few years is to scrape off the build up off the ceramic and they are good to be reused again
While the initial ceramic filter may be expensive, the fact that they can be scraped clean every few years makes them virtually a life time investment

SOURCE: freezer does not make ice

You need to check and see if ice maker has any water init. if not check the fill tube that goes thru the back wall for stoppage while you have it out rin the maker thru a harvest mode and listen for the sounds of the solonoid opening. If tube is full you'll need to replace the slow leaking valve a common problem. for parts call 704-819-6557

SOURCE: I need to change the water filter on my refrigerator

Since I didn't have the service manual, I had to play around until I stumbled into a way to remove the filter. To remove the filter: 1. locate the filter (bottom front under the refrigerator door). 2. push the button next to the filter cap until the filter is released. 3 remove the fillter and take that filter to the local home supply store to make sure you have the correct match. 4. replace cap on new filter, remove inlet protecting caps on new filter, and push the filter into place.

SOURCE: My Whirlpool refrigerator Model # ED5RHEXNL00 Ice maker broken

Hello. Thanks for choosing fixya! The most common cause for your problem is that someone accidentally raised the wire in the icemaker area that turns it off. Check that first if the wire is up, push it down and within a few hours you will have new ice. The second most common problem is that the cubes in the mold got stuck in there. the fix is to use a blow dryer to free them up, then dry out the mold and spray some PAM cooking spray in to the mold to lubricate it. The final possibliity is that there is ice in the water supply line that feeds your ice maker. Once again get out the blow dryer and thaw that ice so that the water flows once again. good luck with it. regards, joe

SOURCE: water leak at filter

I had this with a Kitchenaid Superba and wanted to get rid of the filter holder assembly entirely as I have an undersink unit which serves the fridge. I removed the plastic line (nut) at the back of the fridge (which led to the filter holder at the front) where the flexible copper tubing inserted (this was a 3/8' compression fitting-plastic) and also the returning line (1/4" copper compression nut on a plastic line) at the manifold (again in the back of the fridge) where it gets split between the water line and the ice line. I then just connected the 1/4" flexible copper directly to the manifold (1/4" nut, compression sleeve, male-male connector) using a pre-made 1/4" flexible compression line. Sounds complicated but after seeing how the water routes it was fairly quick work.

Water comes out real slow from dispenser. we put by pass in and still slow.

When you say you put a bypass in, are you referring to a bypass for a water filter? Make sure there isn't a filter that was already in the line outside the refrigerator or, if that's what was bypassed, make sure there isn't another filter in the refrigerator.

If you're positive that the filter isn't the issue you may need to disconnect the water line and check for debris in the connection to the refrigerator, then confirm you have good water pressure to the fridge.

I need a filter bypass cap for model RF323TEDBSR

That model does not take a bypass plug if you don't have water coming. Thru the filter housing is bad part number (da97_08006g) and needs to be replaced but you could take it apart you could coupler the water lines and bypass the filter housing also called filter case

How can I bypass the fridge water filter on my Samsung RA4287HAR refrigerator?

I know your model is Samsung but on whirlpools when you remove the filter it automatically bypasses the filter through the filter housing I would try that with someone that can turn the water off before you do it just in case I'm wrong about Samsung removal of the filter should allow it to automatically bypass otherwise you will have to buy a I believe a 5/16 Union and just bypass the two lines in and out where you can reach him on the outside

Just moved into a 40 year old house that has an RUUD model UGPH-07EAMGR furnace. Went to check the filter (which of course was loaded), and it was just sitting over the insertion slot. Suspect someone put...

The duct work on the return air can be made to accommodate any size of filter and it may not be the size the furnace takes. Some installers can cut a slot in the outside of the duct and put the filter there, bypassing the manufacturers method of mounting. I would measure the slot or mounting and see what comes close.

GE WATER DISPENSER RUNS SLOW AND GIVE WARM WATER

With the refrig , you should have gotten a small bypass piece which fits in place of the inside filter . Install this to see if the filter is good or not . Water faster , replace filter , still slow , possible water valve problem . Also use a connector usually a 1/4 x 1/4 compression fitting , to bypass the outside filter for test purposes only .

I need to bypass a filter in RS267LASH Samsung refrigerator

From the Samsung Online FAQ for my RF266AASH

Can I Use the Water Dispenser Without a Water Filter? spacer.gif The water and ice dispensers will work without an AquaPure water filter installed. The water filter housings are designed as rotary valves that allow the water to bypass the water filter whenever there is no filter or the filter is not in the lock position.
Models designed for use with the AquaPure water filter are shipped with a cap in place to cover the opening and keep it free of debris prior to the installation of the water filter. It is not necessary to have this cap in place for the unit to bypass the water nor is it intended to plug the housing to prevent leaks.
Note: This does not apply to the Quatro Convertible models. The filter must be installed on this model.
