I have just bought the Canon EOS 400D digital camera. when taking a picture it does not appear on the LCD screen, only after it has been taken can you view it on the screen. is this normal or is there something wrong with the camera?
I'll explain it to you. THIS IS NORMAL! If you can read this then read your manual. If you don't have a manual then cut and paste this in your web browser.

There is nothing wrong with your camera. The EOS400D is not a point & shoot camera. It does not support "live view" on the LCD when framing up a shot. You need to use the viewfinder. This is the normal camera operation. You can set how long the picture stays in preview mode AFTER the picture has been taken in the camera settings. The later model 40D has "live view" just like a point & shoot.
