Hi Heidi.

Be sure your camera is on when you have connected it to your PC. Then you have to put it in Play mode and rewind the tape if it's a USB cable you connect with. Start Windows Movie Maker and test.

The following link could be useful http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/moviemaker/getstarted/default.mspx

Best regards
Estanislao

I don't think you can transfer video through USB. I am not sure, but it would be much easier to buy a firewire card ($30), and then get a DV cable. This is what I use, and it works well.

I have the jvc GR-DA30U model camcorder and am having difficulty finding the right cable with a 3 ring mini plug that goes into the camera and the firewire connector on the other end. I can find cables with both male firewire connectors but cannot locate one with the mini plug. The cable that came with my camera is a phono/rca type on one end and a mini plug on the other.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, jerry

The USB cable that came with the camera will ONLY transfer still images. You must use the DV cable to transfer video.

You need to use a firewall connection 1934 cable that can purchased at most stores, Radio Shack, Target, Best Buy and other stores.

Record directly from jvc model GR-- D370U Digital Video Camera to my pc

Sorry, but it's not possible to record directly to a PC. Windows movie maker will only record from a tape. Please use a quality cable like Belkin, I have had issues with the cheaper firewire cords.
Good luck

JVC DIGITAL VIDEO CAMERA MODEL NO. GR-D370U

Use firewire connection(DV Port) and must use a good quality cable. Sub standard cable lead you to trouble. There's no Vista issue with this camcorder model, only at the software side, JVC website provide a list for those update is needed including upgrade link. I can not post the link this time since that was long time and i need to search for that again. Have search it on JVC site, i will give you an update as well. Good Luck, keep in touch
