Side by side sub zero refrigerator: freezer is

Side by side sub zero refrigerator: freezer is running but refrigerator side is dark and not running

  • Anonymous Jul 16, 2010

Thanks. There appears to be power to the refrig. too. I left a thermometer in overnight and the temp. is stable. The light and control panel column are both dark, but the buttons on the control panel (e.g. bulk ice, unit on/off) do work. I think it may be both rectangular door switches at the top of the refrig. unit. Are these connected as one assembly? It seems odd both would fail at the same time, although a contractor moved the unit within the last couple weeks.

Yes refrig. is running, just that side and control panel on that side (I think this is a Series 630) are dark. It would have to be something with the dual toggle door switches at the top of the refrig. side. Odd that both are not working in tandem. Are they connected?

Still not clear. in your question you say refrig side is dark and not running, then you say you put a temp guage in it overnight and it's steady. So you DO have cooling in refrig? If it's just the lights, yes it could the switch or it could be the light bulbs.

Subzero freezer works refrigerator lights off and not cooling

You probably have a bad light switch.it's the one on the left up top. If you look closely you can still read the temperature in the display to tell if it's cooling.

Sub zero 532. freezer works fine --0 degrees. fridge wont get below 50 degrees. cleaned condenser fins- still no decrease in temp

check the fan that runs between the freezer and the fridge --check fan for ice blockage -debris-or damage / clean or clear blockage --if not running test wiring and connections as well as motor /repair or replace //also check fan damper is not frozen or blocked its flap that opens and closes for air to flow //----ur fridge side is cooled from the the freezer side the cold air is blown in from the freezer if fan or damper is not working correctly than fridge is usually warm and freezer is working properly

Freezer side of 690 does not work (not even cool); refrigerator side works just fine.

Check the fan in the freezer department. It has to run when the door i closed. Sometimes the door switch is bad. This causes the freezer coils to ice up so the cold air does not go through the coil to cool the freezer. Unplug the power cord for 1 hour or two hours. Then plug the cord in and see if the freezer gets cold.
