Coolpix 4300 needs driver & update for vista

Hi, Check... I think they have some software/firmware upgrades out to help that problem...

If you think the software on your CD is not good, you can download it here from Nikon. Here are the instructions. Here are more Nikon software if you are interested.

Nikon View was retired years ago. Nikon Transfer handles the transfer portion of it, and Nikon ViewNX2 handles the viewing/cataloging portion. You can download the current versions of all (free) Nikon software at

The Nikon 4300 was never designe to work with Vista. You may try the Nikon supprot site for updated drivers, unfortunately at this time there is nothing on the site for your camera. That is the only Nikon software that supports Vista since your camera is "outdated".

Here is a quote from Nikon site:

• We had released a Windows Vista-compatible version of PictureProject, v1.7.5, for use with the models listed below, and all models that followed. PTP (models supporting the PTP protocol) and Mass storage USB transfer options can be used for camera connection. However, the camera's transfer button can not be used to transfer pictures over a PTP connection. Set the USB transfer option to Mass storage to enable the camera's transfer button.
  Currently, the new Nikon Transfer and View NX will replace Picture Project as our new Image Transfer and Browser applications. These applications support the same Nikon products as Picture Project.

Use the following link to download Pictureproject for sure assuming you are looking for an update to support Vista which I believe was truncated.
