F8 usually means that you have a fault in the ERC (electronic range control). meaning you have to replace the control.

First try unplugging the range over night and see if this clears the problem. If not you can check the price of a control at a local parts store. They can be fairly pricey so depending on the age of your range - you may want to consider a new range.

Is preheating this toaster oven necessary? How do you preheat?

Preheat is helpful when you're not cooking for more than a few minutes. If you're going to cook for 20 minutes or more, then most likely you don't need to pre-heat.

To pre-heat, simply turn your toaster-oven on 10 minutes before you put the food in.

The oven preheats, but then "cools down" before I

Most likely the problem is your bake element. When the oven is preheating it uses both the bake and the broil element. When it's done preheating it uses only the bake element, so the broil element is heating it up, and since the bake element is not working the temperature drops until it starts preheating again.

Whirlpool accubake doesn't preheat properly

Are both of your heating elements lighting up when you are preheating? It sounds like the oven thinks it is pumping power into both elements and one isn't working. Oven elements are generally easy to remove and replace!

I have Fridigaire double oven part# PLEB27T8ACA with F8 code prob

Preheating Oven

Cold Stove, you may not be able to. The issue here is that oven manufactures put on their units a fast preheat. However it isn't possible to preheat an oven for 7 to 9 minutes and bake short time bake items properly. Also the oven sensor will respond faster than the absorbation rate of the sheet metal in the oven liner. To preheat an oven properly takes 15 to 20 minutes before putting in the food. I see this will a lot of current ovens. Sounds like a normal format of the control.

F4 code when preheating oven

That code means "Shorted Oven Sensor". You can find out more about this by removing the bottom drawer, pull it out til it stops, lift it up and pull it all the way out. Now lay down on the floor and look under the oven to the left side. You will see a service info card there. Pull it out, open it up and have a read.

Oven temperature fluctuating

Glowworm, Im assuming your model is a 790.78802500. If your husband is handy with a meter have him ohm out the sensor. It should show around 1091 ohms at 75 degrees or room temp. The preheat is programed so that the manufacturer can get the energy effecient label on the range and what ever perks they get from it. It actually should take around another 10 to 15 minutes to reach the set temp after it shows preheated. You can calibrate the oven by setting bake to 550 degrees. Then press and hold the bake pad again for 15 seconds or until a single beep is heard. Now you can adust temps up or down in 5 degree increments up to 35 degrees by using the slew keys. It will show in the display. Once you have the calibration done, press stop/clear. Catriver...post back
