BLACK SCREEN NO AUDIO POWER LIGHT IS ON

I WAS AWAY FOR TEN WEEKS. UPON RETURN I REACTIVATED VERIZON FIOS TV. SONY XBR BRAVIA LCD 40 INCH DOA. POWER LIGHT COMES ON, BLACK SCREEN NO AUDIO. ALL BUTTONS ON TV AND ON REMOTE HAVE NO EFFECT. VERIZON SAYS THEIR DVR BOX IS WORKING PROPERLY AND THE PROBLEM IS TV.
CAN MASTER POWER SUPPLY GO OUT AND STILL HAVE THE RED POWER LIGHT GO ON?

Since the screen is coming on I do not think it is a problem with the power supply. It sounds more like a problem with the audio/video main board of the set. Is the set under warranty?

    The screen is NOT coming on. Only the power light is coming on. "black screen no audio". The set is 5+ years old. No warranty.

    In that case, yes I do think it is the power supply. You can confirm this by checkling for any faint glow on the screen. If there is none then the power supply has to be tested for voltage drops. I can find you a service manual if you wanna try a comonent level reply. Otherwise you may just wanna replace the power supply board

Sony 52 inch XBR with bands of ghosted images
Its a TAB bond Problem with the LCD. You can take apart the TV and install a rubber Bumper to put pressure on the TAB. TAB bonds always get worse... I dont know how long it will solve the issue... but u can get a little more life out of it.
Rember when working with the TV the voltages can kill!!

First, HORIZONTAL CENTER.
1) Press MENU.
2) Scroll to SETTINGS.
3) Scroll to SCREEN.
4) Go to HORIZONTAL CENTER. Move the picture to the right. Hopefully, the line will go away. Otherwise, there is a problem with the pixels or the signal processor. Call 1-800-222-SONY. Or, http://eservice.sony.com. Have a high-limit credit card handy for out of warranty repairs. Sorry about that.
