SOURCE: dryer tumbler won't turn but heats up

turn on for a short time and listen for a low hum. if present, this means the motor is stalled. take of top and give the drum a push. if it then starts to run then the motor capacitor is faulty

SOURCE: maytag electric dryer. Tumbler won't turn.

The first thing to check is the drive belt. you will need to turn the dryer on its side and look to see if the drive belt is broken. If this is o.k it will be the motor.

SOURCE: Dryer won't heat. Motor turns tumbler. Tried

Heres what you'll need to do.

First pull out your lint trap and place your hand down in the lint trap hole not very far just enough to feel a good amount of air blowing on your hand. If you feel no breeze in there you need to clean the ducting, starting at the back of the dryer (where you hook it up at) and ending out side your house (where vents at). Snake it your self or have someone do it but just the same it has to be done.

Secondly you'll need to change you thermal fuse. If after snaking the dryer still doesn't heat. Changing the thermal fuse is easily done. Firstly you must unplug the dryer and then remove the cover off of the back of the dryer. Then you'll see the thermal fuse
e05e4038970ae97c (most of them look like this). Change it and put the dryer cover back on, plug it in and your ready to rock and roll.

Hope this helps

My general electric heavy duty automatic electric dryer won't heat. Is there anything to try before replacing heater?

go to your fuse box and try replacing the 2 fuses for the dryer circuit or if you have a circuit breaker box shut off the breaker for the dryer and turn it back on and try the dryer again. I used to be an electrician and found double pole circuit breakers that have only one side tripped. alot of 220volt electric dryers use one circuit for the tumbler motor and the other circuit for the heating element

Breaker popped, so went and turned it back on. Now there is no heat. What could be the problem?

In your dryer behind the tumbler there are coils with insulators. up against the dryer wall their should be many holes that allow the heat to come into the tumbler. run your dryer about 3 minutes with settings on heat , then open the door and peer thru to the back while the tumbler is spinning. if you don't see part or full radiat heat. the heating coils will have to be replaced. you can purchase them from most appliance parts store. just make sure you provide the brand and model # and possibly the ser#. good luck!

Tumbler spins, heat won't go on, timer won't work

It is your operating thermostat. It controls the heat and runs the timer down.

Electric dryer heat coil off mid cycle

You have 3 thermostats. By the description of the problem it sounds like it needs a new high limit thermostat. All 3 thermostats and the heating coil can be checked with an ohm meter. Also check the ground on the heating coil. It could be grounding it's self out.
