I am looking to replace the heating element on an old hotpoint electric dryer and cannot locate how to find it.

Depends when the dryer was made, older models had the element at the front behind the front panel.
More recent models all have the element located at the rear of the dryer..
Hope this helps.

I have a Hotpoint Dryer and the belt snapped, we purchased a replacement belt but are having a hard time figuring out how to install the new belt. The instructions call this belt a drive shaft. Please...

ALWAYS UNPLUG YOUR DRYER BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO DO ANY WORK ON IT.

If you have to replace your drum belt and if you have a front loading machine.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Be real careful not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the machine, this will expose the belt, felt seal, and drum.
Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm bracket with pulley, and motor with pulley.
The route of the belt will go around the motor pulley first, then it will go around the idler arm bracket with pulley, then around the drum.
Sometimes the belt will slip off of the idler arm or motor causing the drum not to turn.
While you have the drum out, I would recommend that you lubricate the drum rollers at the shaft of the roller with a good grade of machine oil like 3 in One oil. This will save you a problem later with the rollers getting noisy, also check your drum rollers for flat spots, if they have flat spots on them this will cause a noise like a thumping type noise. You will need to replace the drum rollers if they have flat spots on them.
I will include these two websites for parts and further help:
http://www.partselect.com/
http://www.appliancepartspros.com/index.aspx
Both also have chat assistance 24/7.
Good luck,
I hope this helps

How do you put a new belt on?

Water not heating or drying

It is possible that the element has gone, \even after such a short period of time.
If it is only 6 months old, then you need to contact Hotpoint service department, and get it fixed under the guarantee, do not try to fix it yourself,, as you could invalidate the guarantee.
If you look inside your user instruction hand book you will find the telephone number you need to ring to get service.
Please rate my fixya solution.
Thankyou.

Need to know what size belt goes on whirlpool hotpoint dryer model#DLB155OBDLAD

Your model number is actually "DLB1550BDLAD". The character after the second 5 is a zero, not the letter O. I'm only pointing this out to you because it is often hard to read these characters and it will avoid confusion for you in the future. The part number you need for a belt replacement is "WE12X82". You can find it at searspartsdirect.com under the "Blower and Drive Assembly" heading. It is listed as item number 213. The illustrations aren't the greatest, but they may help you as well. If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number provided and go to your nearest appliance parts retailer. They should carry a stock of different dryer belts. I hope you find this information helpful. Let me know if you have further questions.
