I have a vizio 42" SV420XVT. it will not turn on and has a code 5.1 in the lower right corner of the panel

You have to be in 'TV' mode to access the parental settings option. Not sure why. When it asks for the code it's 0000

You have to go into the "Parental" settings and change the "Rating Enable" setting to off. Default password is 0000. The PIP will not work if your second source is fed into one of the AV inputs. It must be a composite or digital input. You should see the PIP menus once you change the Parental setting even if there is no other source turned on. This info is not in the book - had to call tech support.

I had the same problem. I could get an analog audio signal but no digitial signal. My problem was with the cable box setting. I have Cox Cable. With the Cable remote I went to settings/settings/Audio out and selected HDMI. Worked like a charm

Hi masterpilch, I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. I can't find anything now. Can you describe the problem more? is there any lights from the tv on? Have you tried disconnecting all inputs?
