SOURCE: Hotpoint condenser dryer ctd00

change the drive belt. evidently the belt has stretched to the point the belt tensioning device can no longer do its job. when you change the belt make a diagram of which way the belt is reaved through the tensioning device. if you don't you'll be back here asking how to arrange the belt.

SOURCE: My clothes drum won't turn

Check the dryer drive belt, if it is equipped with one. If the belt has broken, you should hear the drive motor running but have no rotation on the dryer drum.

SOURCE: the dryer drum moves but no heat. Clothes do not

most of the time it is the heating coil their is a
series of springs the heat up and then the blower
sends air pass them and into the dryer to dry the clothes
you will need to remove the back of the dryer
and get to the heating element and look at it
and see it any of the springs are broken
cost for the part 80.00 maybe
good luck

I have a Kenmore elite he5 gas dryer and when it is turned on it will not spin. Can you tell me why?

If you hear a humming/clicking sound from motor area you more than likely have a bad motor.
Try this test out to see if u have weak windings or relay on motor.
Open the dryer door and turn by hand the drum while machine is on ON position. And you or someone else presses the door engagement switch in. If it starts up then u have bad windings OTHER WISE CHECK FOR A LOOSE WORN BELT

Clothes get caught in-between the drum and where the drum rest at the front of the dryer and all the cloths have rust colored mark on them.

What is happening is the drum moves parallel to the door opening and drum liner. When the drum shaft gets wear, the drum tilts away from the drum liner. This creates a space through which your clothes fall into. The drum turns and your clothes wedge in this gap and become damaged from rubbing the interior liner.
To fix this is simple. Remove the front dryer cover and there will be 3 screws holding the drum to the shaft. There are plastic bushings to replace and then your drum will fit tightly against the liner. It may be a good time to replace the liner to insure a good seal.
Remember to turn off the gas at the appliance or unplug the electricity to the unit.
Servall is a supplier of appliance parts, and the Service dept. of Sears fir Kenmore, etc.
It should take an experienced repairman with the tools between 1 and 2 hours to fix.

Just moved, dryer won't tumble with a load. Error code PF

Did it get tipped in the move? I don't know about the specific model of Maytag, but on my old Kenmore the belt that ran the drum also had a wheel and kind of like a pulley that it had to seated on in order for the belt to stay centered on the drum and turn properly.I don't know how you get the shell off the front to get at the drum, the Kenmore had screws that you had to take out and lift the control panel off and then back to get at the inside. Sorry

DRYER IS MAKING A CONSISTENT BANGING NOISE WHEN RUNNING. DRUM IS TURNING AND DRYER DOES DRY OK.

Hi,

There are several things that can cause a dryer to be noisy. There are a lot of moving parts in a dryer that can cause noises to occur when they get worn. Several parts support the drum, and may make noise or vibrations when worn out. Many times a dryer will squeak just a little bit as it first starts. This should go away in just a few seconds. Make sure nothing is loose inside the drum. Remove the lint trap and look below the lint trap holder for any loose items that may have slipped through the cracks. The blower wheel is always moving and lint is constantly going by it. If it’s noisy, it may have gotten clogged with lint, or it may be worn and need to be replaced. Clean out the area around the blower. If it’s still noisy, replace it.
Many dryers use a center spindle to support the clothes drum. This spindle may be a ball-and-socket support, or it may be a shaft inside a sleeve. When these component bearings get worn out, they may make a squealing or rubbing sound. Replace this bearing when it gets worn out. Many dryers also use plastic glides in the front end of the clothes drum. When these glides are worn out, you may hear a lot of noise. If the glides are worn, replace them as a set.
Some dryers use rollers to support the clothes drum. If these rollers or wheels are worn out, they can be extremely noisy. You ought to replace the whole set at the same time. A belt that has been damaged or frayed may make a thumping or slapping sound as the drum turns.
The gas valve solenoid will make a buzz type of sound as it opens. The valve itself will give a little click as it starts the heat cycle, when ignition begins, and when the burner is turning off. The burner flame itself makes kind of a low-pitched roaring wind sound.

Thanks for using Fixya.

GAS DRYER, JUST REPLACED BELT BUT DRUM WILL NOT TURN WITH CLOTHES IN IT.

My guess: bad motor bearings which let the rotor move off-center and bind.
Usually the motors are not repairable

Hi I am trying to clean my drain unsder my washer. I do not know how to pull the cover off.?? It appears I need special alan wrenchs for two little screws..?? any ideas??

Though the idea of repairing a clothes dryer can be pretty intimidating, the truth is that some types of repairs are surprisingly easy. Yes, dryers appear to be built like huge, impervious metal boxes, but they are typically pretty easy to open and relatively simple to fix.

As shown at How Clothes Dryers Works, a clothes dryer has a motor that turns a big drum containing the clothes, a heat source for blowing warm air into the drum to dry the clothes, and controls for operating the motor and heat source.
Some dryers have an electric element to do the heating while others utilize a gas flame; the latter must be vented.
Clothes dryer problems generally occur because the heat source doesn't heat properly or the motor fails to turn the drum.
If a gas dryer doesn't dry properly, the first thing to check is the pilot light or igniter--it may not be lighting the burner. The second thing to check is the dryer's vent-if it is clogged with lint, the heating system won't work properly.

Pay attention to basic safety measures when working on a dryer. Always unplug the dryer, and turn off the gas supply to a gas dryer at the appliance shutoff valve.
As with most appliances, maintenance will keep your dryer purring. Clean the lint trap after every load, and clean the vent system once a year.

Dryer smells of natural gas

Of course, this applies to gas dryers only. If you smell natural gas near your gas dryer, do not light matches or a lighter and don't operate electrical switches or anything that might spark, igniting an explosion. Immediately shut off the gas valve that serves the dryer. If the smell is mild, ventilate the area, wait until the air is clear, and re-light your pilot light. If the smell is strong, move everyone outside, leaving the doors open to ventilate the house. Turn off the gas supply valve --located by the gas meter on the gas inlet pipe-- by rotating the valve one quarter turn with an adjustable wrench. The valve's oblong stem should be perpendicular (at a right angle) to the inlet pipe to stop the flow of gas. Call your gas supplier (or the fire department) from a neighbor's phone or a cellular phone outside the house.
