Receive an invalid format message from my Olevia 32 tv

Setting up your HDMI cable on your PS3 games console

I had this problem with my olevia and computer. When the computer starts up hit F4 or whatever the boot menu button is. Then in the boot menu find an option that will start the computer in low res. Then when started go to the display settings and change them to 60 hz and 1280 X 768 anything higher than 768 will cause the invalid format message on the tv.

The video resolution from the PS3 is too high for the TV to display, you need to lower the video resolution of the PS3.

The HDMI port will only accept 480p, 720p, 1080i or 1080p out of the XBOX. If the XBOX is set to 480i the TV will see it as an invalid format.

If you get that across all inputs or channels then your digital board is bad. If you get it only on one input such as HD cable box, HD satelitte receiver or Blu_Ray player then they are set for the wrong output on that connector. The TV most likely will only accept up to 720p or 1080i....

I have a LG plasma and I am trying to connect my PC via VGA and I am getting the "Invalid Format" - can you please tell me what is the problem? Thank you

Try rechecking all wire connections for proper placement and fit too and from the tv.
Try adjusting the video format on the DVD, flip through 480p and 1080i. See which format works best with your tv. Do the same with Wii.

You may need to use the S-video cable for video. Make sure video mirroring is disabled on the powerbook. Also, make the external monitor the primary display by dragging the menu bar to it in Displays preferences (Mac OS X) or the Monitors control panel (Mac OS 8 and 9).

If you accidentally set your PS 3 for 1080p resolution, when the TV can only support 720p, you get a black screen. The Westinghouse TV I used displayed a message that said "invalid format."
