Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Once you've checked the cleaner head for obstructions, and removed any threads or hair from around the brush bar, you should be able to reset it:

The brush bar will never rotate when the vacuum is standing upright, so ensure the machine is reclined into the normal vacuuming position before you test it. Once you've reclined it and turned the machine on, try pressing the silver brush control switch (next to the red on/off switch) twice.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you do need any further help please call our experts directly on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU) so we can provide assistance.

HI, it's Jim from Crucial Vacuum!

If your Dyson DC25 vacuum's brush roll is no longer turning there are two crucial things to check for.

First off lets look at the brush roll itself. Right off the bat is there any noticeable debris caught in it? You're mainly looking for long carpet fibers, or even long strands of hair? If so try using a scissor to cut the blockage away. Then, manually rotate the brush roll to uncover further clogs. When examining your brush roll take note of the condition of the bristles. Are they loose? If so this would be a good time to change your brush roll entirely.

The second part to check would be your Dyson DC25's belt. With use the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. So if your belt feels loose as well replace that. This could lead to your brush roll not turning entirely. A general rule would be that you're going to want to replace your belt about every 6 months.

How to replace belt

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

Unlike many upright vacuums, DC25 does not have a traditional, user-replaceable belt. Instead, it has a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum in normal use. It's protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar for protection if something jams it.

If your DC25's brush bar isn't rotating, it's likely that the belt is fine, and the vacuum may simply need a reset. To reset your vacuum, just follow the steps shown in the video below:

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the vacuum is standing upright. Make sure you recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it.

I'm confident this will resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further help or advice from our experts after giving this a try, please give us a call on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

How to tell is belt or motor is bad on dyson 25

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 is equipped with a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the machine. It's protected by a safety cut-off system which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it. If the brush bar on your machine isn't rotating, it's likely that this just needs resetting, as shown in the video below.

The brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please make sure you recline your machine into the vacuuming position before testing it after following the reset procedure.

I'm confident this should resolve the issue, but if you would like some further guidance from one of our experts, please give our freephone customer Helpline a call. You can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Bottom agitator brush bar doesn't rotate.

First, check to make sure the brush bar is on. The switch is right next to the machine's on-off button, and it is easy to accidentally turn it off when you turn the DC 25 on or off.

Next, check for and clear any obstructions in the brush bar housing.

Finally, check for belt wear and replace if necessary. There is a very video online showing the procedure.

Dyson dc 25 animal brush not rotating

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

The rotating bar is not rotating. HELP!

One of the buttons turns on the machine and the other turns off the rotating brush, since the Dyson does not work well at all on bare floors with the rotating bar running. The buttons on mine are right on the front of the machine and are very large.

If your brush bar is turned on, but is not working, please turn off the machine, unplug it and turn it upside down. Take a look at the bar mechanism. Does it have thread or hair or any other long objects wrapped around it? If it does, remove these, using small scissors carefull if you need to. This kind of debris can easily stop the brush.

If the bar still does not work, your vacuum belt is probably worn out or broken. you can order one here http://platinumvacuum.com/search.php?mode=search&page=1 or may be able to buy one at the same store where you bought the vacuum.

Replacing the belt will require instructions and there is a video on how to do it here

Good luck to you.
