When i plug it in it goes to 902 degress but does not get hot and when i turn the heat down it goes up to 902

I had the same problem with mine. Try pushing or twisting the cord entering the soldering iron pencil. The temperature sensor can become disconnected if the cord gets twisted.

I have a faulty weller soldering iron,the iron heats up but doesn't get hot enough to melt the solder,could it be the element or the thermostst thats at fault,any ideas.p.s. Its the 101 watt iron.

It may be possible that the voltage
input is low it will affect the
temperature.if not change the
thermostat

Hi, I'm not sure the tip is defective. Check that the tip is screwed in tight. If it is not good and tight the tip will not get a good heat transfer from the solder wand. Hope this helps. If the wand will heat then the tip should.

I had the same problem and even though the tip was tightly screwed in, it wouldn’t get hot enough to work correctly. When I removed my t and put my original Welled tip in, I had no problems.
