Blank screen on Canon Powershot S2is camera

My canon powershot cameras lcd screen and viewfinder are completly black/blank other than various menu info. the camera wasn't dropped or damaged whatsoever. I would appreciate any help, thanks a million

Hi.if you are telling both viewfinder and lcd are blank or black the problem is in the shutter that you found inside of the lens are not open.sometimes the cuase of the is humidity or moist goin inside of the shutter thats why it will not work properly or stuck up.if you can open your camera and adjust the shuuter from lens unit its better .but if not its better you bring to service center and request for adjustment.

by the way try also to reset your camera to default setting maybe it will help you.

This is the type of problem that requires troubleshooting by a service technician. Check the Canon site for an authorized service site. Give them a call and describe the problem. Chances are high that you will have to take/send the camera in for service. The service center can also give you an idea of the repair cost.

Viewfinder is blank, but the camera works normally.
Iris or Aperture not working its all time off so that you can not see through camera.You need to change Iris cable.

some cameras have the choice to take the picture by looking through the veiwfinder or on the LCD screen. check in the menu and set it to LCD if you want to use the LCD

Sounds like you have a stuck shutter or bad CCD. There is a temporary fix that works sometimes but eventually it will stop working alltogether. Canon can fix this or there are a couple of sellers on ebay that repair broken LCDs or shutters.

Powershot pro1 viewfinder show blank white
Hi
When the LCD screen is open the viewfinder will switch of and when it is closed the viewfinder will switch on. You can switch between the two by pressing Monitor select button to the left of the Eyepiece (Viewfinder). as you look at the back of the camera.

The Display button manually turns the LCD display on or off to save batteries. If you accidentally had turned the LCD off, It should only take one press of the button to turn it back on and leave it that way. As such, it's not you but the camera. The A570 IS is relatively new. Your camera is likely still under warranty. If so, contact Canon for warranty repair (see the following link):
