Black 3e won't print, even with NEW printhead.

I have a Canon MP780. When I changed the Black 3e cartridge, it would no longer print in black. I tried 3 different ink cartridges to no avail. I did so many deep cleanings that I used half an ink cartridge. No luck. I cleaned the printhead. Still nothing. So I installed a brand new printhead. No black. All other colors print fine. Any clue?

After reading another thread on a self-help website about the tons of people having this exact same problem, I tried all the given solutions. One of them finally worked, and though it made no sense to me whatsoever, I'm thankful it worked!

I went to my printer control page, selected "printing preferences," then selected the "profiles" tab. Then I clicked on "use default settings" and "okay."

After that, the auto printhead align worked (it had been saying "failed" when I put the new printhead in), and the Windows test page came out fine with no problems. I have been able to print flawlessly ever since.

It seems to be a software gliche, which is what the original poster was saying. TONS of people are having this same problem.

SOURCE: black not printing

Excellent solution. May want to run the maintenance clean head action from the printer menu on the printer and also print a horizontal line test page to make sure the heads are aligned properly.

SOURCE: 3e Black cartridge won't print

I'm not an expert but I go through a lot of ink.. I have found that even with new ink some of the tanks of ink aren't any good especially with compatible which i buy a lot of because it's a lot cheaper (ebay). With that ink I have gone through 10 cartridges in a row before finding one that worked correctly again (I mean out of 100+ cartridges hitting a run of 10 that where bad but the rest good.)

Also, a tech for epson once told me to hit deep clean 7 times in a row before a head check to clean their nozzles.. That has helped with my printer and at Fry's electronics, they have a cleaning solvent in kit, haven't tried it, but i have run alcohol through mine but I'm told that is very ******* the print head (dissolves the glue).

Hope that helped..

SOURCE: I changed my Canon PIXMA MP780 3e cartridge, and

I have to ask this question of you, just to make sure this is not an issue. Are you using a factory new ink or toner cartridge?
Please consider the following:
If you are using a refilled (the absolute worst possible choice) or third party cartridges (2nd. Worst possible choice) that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks or toner causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead or photo conductors.
If you are using factory new ink or toner cartridges, then please call the manufacturer’s Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

Printer won't print black ink

The black is always the first to wear out on the printhead. If you are using a refilled cartridge check the side of the cartridge, if you can see ripples near the hole at the bottom then the blotter material has been pushed up inside and can't contact the filter in the printhead. If all is good you will need a new printhead, QY6-0049-000

My canon PIMXA MP780 is not printing from the large Black

The black is the first to wear out on these printheads, you will need a new printhead, QY6-0049-000.
You will only waste inks trying to clean or deep clean, the best bet is to replace the printhead and if all else is ok you will get many more trouble free prints and better quality color prints.

Canon Pixma MP780

The printhead is plugged or burned out for the 3EBK. You need a new printhead, QY6-0049-000, around $40.00.

Canon Pixma IP4000 - will not print. Did maintenance cleaning and the 3E was not showing solid lines. Cleaned many times and finally took out ink & print head and cleaned off a bit and now won't show...

I'm not sure what you did. We have 3 MP780 and IP6000 and 9000 printers. The frequent problem have is streaking usually w/ refilled cartridges and even new cartridges. This is what we usually do:
1. Take the printhead out and dip it in 1-2mm depth hot water. Hopefully the water changes color and clears up the clog. Keep the Circuits dry. Wipe off excess water when you are done.
2. For really difficult clogs, if the hot water doesn't work I find a small rubber hose and syringe that encloses(meaning air tight) the mesh in the printhead where the ink goes in. I then pump air in to clear out the clog.
3. Since you have to do it for the Black 3e, you might as well do it also for all the others to make sure they are not clogged.
Make sure when you pump in the air the syringe is not touching the mesh in the printhead. If these don't work then you can try borrow the printhead of another printer and testing it out. If it works then you need to buy the printhead. If Canon has stock, you should get it fast. If not, and you really need to print either go to a printing service or buy a new printer. Good luck.

Canon Pixma MP780 Printer - black 3e fails to print

installed a new Print-Head, but that was no changes. I use refill ink, and it seams the BlackInkTank is not exactly on the Printhead and it is Air in the Pipe, i take the Printhead and the Ink-Cardridge in the Bathroom, and press the Ink-cardrige on the Printhead and take a hard breath and blow in the Air-Holes of the Ink-Cardrige until black ink come out of the Printhead, reinstall in the Printer, end it works well.

sorry about my bad english

Black will not print

This may seem obvious but have you tried cleaning and refreshing the print heads? I've had a similar problem with only certain colors and the cleaning seemed to help.
