My washing machine was not spinning so I researched it and found that it was most likely the brushes. When I opened it up turns out the brushes were worn down to next to nothing, so I ordered new ones and replaced them, but when I went to turn on the washing machine it would not power on. My guess is that it is a fuse, but they are ceramic, so I couldn't tell if they blew or not. Is there an easy way to test the fuses, or another possibility of what could be wrong?

You can buy a cheap meter from maplins or screwfix for less than a fiver which you can use to test the fuse.
Check all internal wiring connections are true, test in a different socket. There is the possibilty that the motor failure may have blown the main pcb (263909) or the on/off switch (167321) is not operating.
Good luck.

Even if the pump is not working, then so long as there is no water in the washer, it should spin
If it does not, then I would suspect the motor brushes are worn out.
You need to remove the motor to check the brushes, if they are less than 2 or 3 mm long then they need replacing.
I do not think the washer you found is off the pump, more likely out of someones pocket.
Hope this helps with your problem.

Machine does not spin, model no 3008 could you

modern washing macine motors don't have brushes they are what is called inductive not touching parts .
just doesnt spin ? or wont run at all ? hears a rule of thumb washing machine motors are very tough (usualy) unless a drum seal leaked causing corrosion or somthing mechcanical has gone (meaning you can't spin the motor with you finger ) then your problem is probably elsewhere ie...lid switch, cam control switch,... you get the idea
Good luck

Washing machines door open light is on, but door is shut

Found it for myself - F7=motor fault. New motor brushes fixed it. This error code will come up if the motor fails to turn on demand at any point in a program, be it filling, in a wash cycle, or spinning.

Hoover CA230 1300 Special Edition Washing Machine

I had the same problem. My husband checked the carbon brushes attached to the motor and ran the machine on spin. The brushes were sparking so he assumed they were worn and replaced them and hey presto machine works fine now. The brushes cost 23.99 and were just bought from a local shop but can be bought online cheaper. Hope this helps solve your problem. Essex

Hotpoint Aquarius WMA54 very noisy during spin

Hi, if your H/P is noisy on the spin cycle, just open the door and turn the drum a few times. If you feel some play, or kind of loud huming noise, then it is the bearings, very, very common on H/P WMA's.
