My Bissell upright CLeanview (model 53F8)is constantly getting clogged up. I have to reach up into the upper filter chamber and pull down all the yuck that I have vacuumed up. It does not even make it to the dirt container. Gross!

Recline the vacuum fully to the floor when looking for clogs in the lower hose. You can run a broom stick through the upper hose to remove any clog. Also, check the brush to make sure there is no obstruction. Lastly, make sure all 3 filters are clean and clear because if they are dirty that can restrict air flow drastically. You can purchase filters at www.bissell.com
If you have access to a small sink "snake" used to clear clogs in sinks, you might be able to use it to "snag" the sock and pull it out.
Needs to be a metal sewer snake so that you can tug on it if and when it snags the sock.

I have been dealing with this exact same problem for a week and has been driving me crazy! I have done everything you just did and nothing worked. I just took the filter out that is underneath the canister and when I did it was clogged up real bad with tissue, styrofoam and hair. I reached in there and pulled as much out as I could then got needle nose pliers to reach in there to pull out the rest. Remember, it's behind the filter, not the filter itself. My vacuum works great now!!!
Check where there is suction...is there good suction at the hose...at the back of the vacuum. Knowing where there is good suction will help you know where there might be a clog or any resistance. Bissell also has a fairly good customer support line...I believe the phone number might be on the vaccuum possibly in the back.
