When it is turned on the lens goes out, tries to adjust itself, then goes back in, then out several times & tries to forcus before turning itself back off. It makes "whirling" & buzzing noises all the while it's focusing. My daughter did take to Florida this past spring; however she's used it since then. I used canned air on the lens when I turned it on but it didn't help.
The s220 seems to be very susceptible to lens errors, usually associated with the lens barrel being unaligned. It only takes the slightest bump/drop in many cases.
