Many times the left half of the TV screen is dark when turned on. The right half is OK. There is no distinct line between the normal and dark portion-it is a gradual deterioration. The problem normally improves with time if the TV is left on. In the dark section there are some red shadows visible, so it is not completely dark. Sometimes the upper third of the screen clears, with a distinct horizontal demarcation line between the working and impaired parts while the lower 2/3 of the screen stays dark. The right side of the screen is always OK. It has been getting worse with time, and now sometimes occurs even after the set has been on for hours. The TV is 2 1/2 years old. The problem will normally but not always spontaneously clear with time.

I would have a tech come out and look at it. Sometimes the ribbon connectors from the upper or lower buffer boards have poor or corroded contacts. Should'nt be a major deal since it comes and goes.

LVDS Cable is corroded - This is the cable the provides video from the TV Video Process board to the LCD Panels Timing Control Board.
Honestly, if you can take the TV back do so. If not, Service it using the manufacturer warranty

sadly no.
either your panel has been hit and damaged or the panel itself is failing.
without some sort of warranty coverage, your repair cost would exceed the price of replacement.
