Unplug the dryer and the first thing to do is check for the presence of 220 volts at the wall outlet. If you lost one leg of the 220 volts, it is possible for your dryer to run but there will not be any heat. Once you verified there is definitely 220 volts at the wall outlet, remove the rear cover. On the lower right hand side you will see a silver canister which contains the heating element. Remove the lower two wires directly from the heating element and check this for continuity. If it is good, on the left hand side of the same canister they often install a thermal safety which may have tripped. Do the same test as with the heating element. Remove the wires and test the thermal safety for continuity. If this is good, move to the blower housing on the left side of the exhaust vent and look for a white piece of plastic which has two wires on it. Remove these two wires and check this item for continuity.

Dryer wont heat for more than 10 minutes when cold

did you clean the vent line?THAT COULD MAKE IT RUN HOT THE AIR CAN'T BLOW OUTSIDE,BUT WITH THE DRYER HAVING HEAT WHEN IT STARTS AND THEN AFTER LIKE 10 MINUTES NO HEAT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE BAD GAS COILS,WHEN THE COILS ARE STARTING TO FAIL THEY WILL WORK FOR LIKE THE FIRST 10 TO 20 MINUTES AND WHEN THEY HEAT UP NO GAS,WHEN THE COOL THEY WILL WORK AGAIN,I WOULD CHANGE THE COILS AND CLEAN OUT THE DRYER AND VENT LINE,THIS SHOULD BE DONE ONCE A YEAR SO YOU DON'T HAVE A FIRE AND YOUR CLOTHES WILL DRY ON TIME,EVERYONE THINKS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE DRYER AND ALL THAT HAPPENS IS THE VENT LINE AND THE DUCT WHERE THE LINT FILTER SLIDES INTO FILLS WITH LINT AND THE AIR CAN'T BLOW AROUND GOOD ANYMORE,ALSO WITH A SHOP VAC VAC UP THE LINT WHERE THE BURNER AND MOTOR IS AND THEN SET THE VAC UP TO BLOW AND BLOW THE MOTOR AND GAS BURNER OUT,DO THIS AND YOU'LL HARDLY HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE DRYER

Blowing cold air

This model dryer has two heating elements, one for the top and one for the bottom, I suspect that the bottom element is burned out. If you want to attempt it yourself then I can send you a service manual that will walk you step by step through the whole dryer.

Dryer not releasing hot air

if its an all electric dryer then you may have an open heating coil or a bad contact on the timer that supplies power to the heating element .. a few dryers have a fuse that could be blown ..

if you have a gas dryer then you may have a bad solonoid that operates the gas valve .. or more likely a bad igniter .. thats a module that heats up or sparks to ignite the gas .. the igniter is a replacable item mounted near the gas flame. . the heated type fail frequently on some dryers ..

Gas dryer wont heat up, blows only cold air.what would cause this

Could be a bad hi limit thermostat. Could be a bad glowbar ignitor. Check the glowbar ignitor at the gas valve, is it glowing bright orange/red? If not. Replace the ignitor.

Dryer will run for a second and sound three beeps and stops.

Sounds like the door switch has gone bad., but your description is confusing.

First, it takes a few minutes for you to feel the air blowing hot, particularly when the dryer is in a cold garage. The heating elements have to heat up the mass of the metal, and any clothes in the dryer.

The timer design is such that it can not speed up (the motor inside wont start running faster, due to it's electrical design.).

I am suspect that the door switch has failed for some reason, because reading between the lines, I think you are saying when you release the Start button, the dryer quits operating. If the door switch is bad, then it will cause that condition to happen.
