I have a Dyson DC 24 and the brush stopped spinning because it was clogged. I removed all of the hair etc. and replaced the brush, but it still is not spinning. Any suggestions?

If you've had the brush out to clean it you need to re-set the trip switch which is a red button at the right side of the brush simply press it in till it clicks.

My dyson DC 39 triggerhead brush not spinning.

The brush is activated by the suction of the vacuum. If it stops spinning, that means that either there is a broken part inside housing that surrounds the brush, thereby lessening the power of the suction to spin the brush, OR there is a lot of debris, usually hair, trapped and tangled around the brush. That can cause a troubling amount of friction and cause it to stop spinning. Either way, you will need an Allen wrench set to open up the trigger head. I found this video on youtube which details how to do that. It's not my video, but it is helpful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FwNDO3pUxzM

I have a dyson DC 39 animal and my head does not spin fast. help

Hello, this is Ava with Think Crucial.

There are a number of reasons why your brush roller has stopped moving. General maintenance to your vacuum is crucial and will help it work at peak performance.

First things first lets focus on the brush roller. Unplug the vacuum and turn it on its side. Look for any noticeable clumps of debris or hair strands that may be caught in the brush roller. Remove these obstructions, probably best to do so with a scissor if it's hair or long pieces of carpet fibers. After removing the debris try manually rotating the brush roller to uncover other hidden clogs. Another thing to take note of is the condition of the bristles on the roll itself. Are they loose or worn down? These are signs that your brush roller is in need of replacing.

While checking out your brush roll you might as well take a look at your vacuums belt. Your belt should be replaced about every three months. After regular usage, the belt will stretch out, lessening the tension on the brush roller. Lesser tension diminishes the brush roller's turn rate and speed. If the belt feels loose then it certainly is affecting your vacuums suction as well as your brush roll not moving at all.

Why does my Dyson Dc-39 vacuum have good suction, but the beater bar barley turns?

Hi Greg, it's Jack at Dyson.

The brush bar in DC39's Triggerhead floor tool is driven by an airflow-powered turbine. If your vacuum has strong suction but the brush bar stalls on carpeting, it suggests something may be jamming the brush bar.

Follow the steps shown in our online support guide to remove the brush bar, clear any threads or hair from around the brush bar and endcap, and to check the cleaner head for other obstructions: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc39/dc39-animal/maintaining-your-dyson-machine/dc38th-removing-blockages

If you continue to have difficulty with the brush bar after completing these checks, I'm sure we can help you further. Please call our experts on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU). If a replacement Triggerhead floor tool is needed, we can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson parts and labour guarantee.

Brush bar won't spin. Both filters have been cleaned ,all hoses checked for blockages, brush bar removed for cleaning

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC25 doesn't use a conventional, user-replaceable belt. Instead it it uses a belt engineered to last the lifetime of the vacuum in normal use, protected by a sensor which shuts off the brush bar if something jams it.

Normally, checking the cleaner head for obstructions and removing any threads or hair from the brush bar and endcap will allow you to reset your machine:

However if you've already followed each of the steps shown in our video guide without success, you may need a replacement cleaner head or a repair of your machine. If you can contact us directly we should be able to arrange this for you, and can also confirm if this is covered under your Dyson warranty.

When you have your DC25 easily to hand, please get in touch with the Dyson Customer Helpline so we can help determine if a repair or replacement part is needed. You can reach us by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

We'll look forward to speaking with you.

Dyson dc 24 brush works intermittently

Hi Chris, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC24's brush bar is designed to shut itself off for protection if something jams it. Please follow the steps shown in the video attached to remove any threads or hair from the brush bar and end cap, and to check the cleaner head for any obstructions. Once you've done this you should be able to reset the machine.

If you'd like further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please call the Dyson customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA). If a repair or a replacement part is needed, we'll be happy to confirm if this is covered under your machine's 5-year warranty.

Dyson DC 14 Animal - The carpet brush does not turn. I cleaned thoroughly per the instructions but the brush does not turn. I tried moving the carpet/bare floors switch with the same results - carpet...

The brush will only spin when the machine is reclined. Not when the machine is stood upright.
If the brush doesn't turn when the machine is reclined, and the brush control set to "auto", you have a brush bar and/or belt problem.
