Hi, I recently bought a used QTB-7500A flash and am wondering if I can use it on my Konica/Minolta Maxxum 7D camera and utilize the TTL capabilities? It presently has a Module ML on it; can that be used with an adapter that allows the different shoe type on the 7d? Any imput would be helpful. Thanks, Fred

SOURCE: Quantaray QDC-NK i TTL Digital Flash Module

The Quantaray Digital NK Module has a small tab on the side of the raised boss that the 8 pins sit on that prevents it from mounting on the QTB-9500A. It's intentional- the NK Digital Module is made for newer Quantaray flashes only. You'll need the older-style AF NK Module to attach to the QTB-9500A.

There are modules available to convert the camera into a Nikon lens. Right below your fill flash on the left hand side of the unit, there is a square button to release your current module and attach the new Nikon module.

Konica minolta maxxum 7d support

This is a common problem with the 7D. The shutter curtain will stick after several years of service. Put the camera in clean mode to get the curtain to lift, or send it to Sony to replace it. It was a design flaw by Minolta.

I have a quantaray qtb-7500a for an older n80 nikon but i want to use it with my d90 it has a af module nk

The QTB 7500A will work with the D90. However, you will not be able to use the iTTL mode of the D90. Use it exactly the same way you've been using it with the N80, letting the flash control the exposure.

I have a Minolta 5600HS flash that I have used for four years with my maxxum 7d without a problem until recently. The flash continues to function fine while on the camera and can be set to wireless mode on...

It could be a simple connection that is loose and just need to be put back into position, or it could be a controller circuit that is bad and needs to be replaced. This is not a user repairable problem. It should be sent in for repair.

Precision Camera picked up the responsibility for fixing the 7D and 5D Konica-Minolta cameras when Sony bought out K-M. I contacted them when my 7D wasn't functioning, and sent them my camera. Fortunately, on of the problems was "First Frame Black". Precision completely refurbished my camera and returned it to me in better than new condition. Sony picked up the full cost for the total refurbishing; all I paid was the shipping cost to Precision. I might add that my 7D was not in warranty. The URL for Precision Camera is:

Cannot get wireless flash mode to work on my 7D

It is not operator error. I had a similar experience and spent days pulling my hair out trying to figure out the problem.

Unfortunately, the 5400HS is NOT compatible with the 7D. Only to 3600HS(D) and 5600HS(D) are.

The problem stems from the fact that the digital cameras cannot to TTL (real-time) flash metering and have to rely on pre-flash instead.

Because of this, Minolta updated the control protocol to include a signal to tell the flash to pre-flash. Unfortunately, only the two newer flashes recognise and respond to this new signal.

I spent weeks trying various things to get around this, but with no joy. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but your 5400HS just will not work properly with the 7D either wirelessly or when attached to the camera.

Matt.
