If the Computer restarts randomly, then the issue might be due to any damaged Operating System Files.
But, if the Computer shuts down randomly, it is due to the Processor.
All the Processors will be designed in such a way that, if there is any overheating issues, the Computer will shut down randomly.
The overheating might occur due to the malfunction of the Cooling Fan in the Computer.
As this is a overheating issue, it would be better to get the Unit examined at the Service Center.
Replacing the Cooling Fan in the Computer should resolve the issue.

To solve it, you should know where the problem lies, battery, adapter, or laptop? so please try 3 ways,

  1. try the battery on other laptop,

  2. try to use a new battery on you laptop,

  3. change a good adapter.
Thanks

How do I recover from an unexpected shutdown of my laptop?

Most unexpected shutdowns are from thermal signals from the processor or from a memory module failure. Get some cans of compressed air from an office supply store and with all power disconnected and the battery removed, use small bursts of air and blow out all the ventilation frills on the laptop, including all access doors and cd/dvd tray or slot. If it continues after the cleanout, try powering down and removing one memory module and run the laptop. If it dies not shut down, swap out the modules and try again. if it fails, then you know what the problem is.

The computer hiberates when I close the lid, then I have to shutdown & restart to resume working. Can I avoid this somehow?

  1. right click your desktop and select properties
  2. select the screen saver tab
  3. at the bottom click the "power" option
  4. deselect the option for hibernation
  5. make sure your hdd is NOT set to turn off when the lid is closed

you can actually set the laptop up to continue running even programs when the lid is closed. this is the best option if you are constantly running application that require an extended wait period between startup and shut-down

good luck and pls rate this post

I want to remove batterie and work only with adapter until i order a replacment-i have to make sume jumpers-

Dear friend not required any jumper setting. Just remove the battery from laptop then plug in adapter with your laptop. Power on and use. But remember when you use your laptop without battery a sudden power cut may cause of damage of your Operating System & you can not save running unsaved documents.
Thanks.

Unexpected shutdown with fresh battery ...only cycled 23 times so far. Mac shuts down after about 3 minutes....then shuts down on boot sequence after that. No warning...just shuts down instantly. Macbook...

"Shuts down instantly without warning" is the hallmark of a faulty battery. "All five lights on" is meaningless, as batteries with this fault go from 100% to 0% in a finger-snap. Assuming your battery is under warranty, it should be replaced at no charge.

Error message

That is an infections that doing that to your computer. You can stop the shutdown by running this command before the countdown reaches zero. Type this command from the Start->Run box:

shutdown -a

This should kill the countdown. However, you will have to get that infection removed from your computer.

Aspire 5630 - Unexpected shutdown!! This weekend, the laptop just shutdown without any warning! I switched it back on, and then after 30 mins, the same issue!!! I checked the battery, and was charging OK....

Depending on the age of the laptop, it could well be overheating. Let it cool down good, and try again. If that is the problem, you will have to clean out the cooling system with a can of air.

DO NOT USE AN AIR COMPRESSOR ! ! !
