Hello, I've just bought a 2nd hand dishwasher in a student house, and after the first 4 weeks (warranty now gone) its stopped working) It switches on fine, fills with a bit of water, then the drainage pump kicks on. If left alone it does this for well over an hour, and still doesnt start to wash! I'm in BIG trouble if I cant fix this, can anyone help (Please provide idiot instructions if you can, as am new to this kind of thing) THanks

The only way to eliminate a pump issue is to actually remove the pump and check it internally, it doesn't take much to block them and also the impellers can come loose, It sound like you are handy with tools so i suggest removing the drain pump and while it's off check the hoses that run to and from the pump for obstructions and make sure the impeller is not loose.
Question! Did u buy this from Bosch? If you did not, then your contract is with the Store you bought it from and NOT Bosch and you should be contacting them and they should sort the problem.
A blockage, can sometimes be solved by putting one of those diswasher cleaning tabs in the machine a couple of times and see if that sorts the problem for you.
I suggest do that first it is the cheapest option and then if that does not work ring who you bought it from whether that be a retailer or Bosch themselves.
ok sounds like a drain promblem love your do it your selfness but one thing you must keep in mind its under warrenty and if you mess with it you could void your warrenty if you have a cancel drain option try that if it still doesnt drain call for service
try removing pump some models can be serviced fron inside well of machine glass can stop the pump from turning
clean out water and remove filters find a screw in base of well remove and remove pump housing check with torch to see if any obstuctions there if not see if the impellor moves around when turned and make shure that the pump is not worn out
No don't hose it out. That will only make things worse. There are a good number of reasons why it may be blowing the breaker. You will need to meter out the different parts to check for a short. My guess from you description is that the softner unit has broken / leaked and gone into the main pump. You will need to replace both if thats the case.
