The drain line for the auto defrosting mechanism is clogged. The melted ice water collects on bottom of freezer and then refreezes over. Clear the line.

Flooding when freezer defrosts

Make sure the refrigerator is level and the drain tube is not clogged. This is the most common cause of water pooling.

I have a JCD 2289 AE side by side. The freezer has water at the bottom rear that has frozen. How do I turn off the freezer and not the refigerator to defrost it and what could the cause be for the water

Just unplug the frig and open the freezer and let it defrost. Put the frozen items in the frig to keep them cold. Keep the frig closed if possible. You can assist the defrosting by blowing a window fan into the freezer. The room temp will defrost it quickly, or set a blow dryer on LOW and direct toward ice. Careful don't take the chance and turn that dryer on heat. And DO NOT CHIP ICE with a sharp object (patience is free). You may need to physically remove the water as the ice melts. - The source of the ice is probably condensation, or if it happens very quickly, there may be a ice maker leak. Once defrosted replace the frozen items and watch for cause of ice.

Kenmore 25.8 side by side with water freezing in the bottom of th

It sounds like the freezer drain is plugged up. When the frig goes into the defrost stage it melts the frost biuldup on the evaporator and the melted frost goes down a drain that is behind the evaopator cover. When this dran is plugged the water has no place to go and over several defrost cyles will actually run into the bottom of the freezer section. When the defrost cycle is over and the frig starts cooling again, the water freezes in the bottom of the freezer.

Jenn air refrigerator problem

Couple things to check first is that your evaporator fan motor is running, located in the back of your freezer. open the door and listen for the fan some work on the door switch make sure you depress the switch to check it. If the fan is not running more than likely you need a new fan. The second thing is just look at the back of the freezer compartment and look for a layer of heavey frost if there is heavey frost then your defrost is not working, will need to manually defrost and probably replace the defrost terminator part of the heater assymbly
