this laptop came as Intel based (CORE) or AMD based processors. wild differences. that.
onboard, video GPU is,, was... this.

Either your Hard drive (hd) crashed or your hd cable or port is faulty. if your software is corrupt boot with a boot disk (assume you are using XP or Vista), press R on the blue options screen. you will be given a black dos prompt screen. Type in fixboot and type Y for an answer.

I work with Compaq computers now and usually your problem points to the hard drive. I know Compaq's will stay on that screen if the hard drive has failed. Try another hard drive would be my suggestion.

There should also be a switch to lock or unlock the battery.
It will show a little padlock. Turn it to the symbol with the padlock open, then pull the slide release and the battery should come out.
