Leaking water from the bottom all over the floor, the machine is only 11/2 yrs old. We took the washerout after the cycle finished spinning and the drum was empty yet it still had plenty of leaking from the bottom.

Same problem here except the filter was clean. Got a new washing machine coming tomorrow. Looks like it could be the pump BUT after reading various web sites and auction sites it looks like it may also be the circuit board.
If the hoses at the back are not leaking, you need to check the drain hose lines, aksi check that the machine is not dripping from the inlet valve hose, or because of a leak from the door gasket.
Jan, if your pump needs to be replaced, I haven't seen a step by step instruction on it so far, so I hope this will do. First Unplug the machine and remove the remaining water from inside of it.(even after the spin cycle, water remains inside the bottom of the tub, the pump and the drain hose) The easiest way to do this is using a wet /dry vac, attaching it to the end of the drain hose that goes into the wall and sucking the remaining water out. Next pull the unit forward and tilt the top of it back about 45 degrees. (when you have it tipped back far enough, the top will rest against the wall behind the machine instead of tipping forward) Remove the belt from the pulleys underneath the machine. Remove the 3 bolts holding the pump to the base of the machine. Use a pair or pliers or channel locks to remove the clamps on the hoses attached to the pump. Install the replacment pump you've purchased from a local appliance parts sttore or bought from the manufactures web site on line by reversing the process. Run a quick fill/ spinto make sure you have no leaks.
You could have a crack in the pump housing. Take the back panel off the machine and run a small amount of water in it, then turn on the spin cycle and see if you can see any water spraying from the pump itself. 20 yrs is not unreasonable for most older models.
It sounds like you have a leaking pump. The pump is easy to replace: #1 Use a shop vac and pull all the water out of the drain line. This will keep you from having to clean up about 1 gallon of water off of the floor. #2 Lift the front of the machine enough for you to get under and see.the pump just inside the front of the washer. #3 Lift the 2 retaining clips off of the pump. This will allow you to pull the pump off of the motor. #4 Remove the 2 clamps off of the hoses. #5 Install the new pump into the hoses, and reinstall the clamps. #6 With the retaining clips installed into the motor housing, install the pump. #7 Attach the retaining clips, and set the washer back on the ground.
