My iomega does not turn on at all. Have played with all the plugs and tried using a different computer. This is the second iomega drive I've had with this problem.

1. you have a bad power adapter or the electronic controller board in the hard drive case has malfunctioned.
2. You should call the manufacturer for a replacement power adapter or go to the local computer store and purchase a new case for the hard drive.

Iomega portable hard drives connect to your computer through a USB port. When you connect the Iomega hard drive to your computer, it should pop up as an icon in your My Computer folder. If you can't find the icon in your My Computer folder then you probably need to update the driver for the device. Updating this driver is not very hard and can be done automatically from the Windows Device Manager.

Plug your Iomega hard drive into one of your computer's USB port. Click the "Start" button and go to the "Run" field. Type "Devmgmt.msc" into the Run box and press the "Enter" key. Go down to the bottom of the device manager to the "Universal Serial Bus Controller." Click on the little + (plus) sign to expand it. Look for an entry with a yellow exclamation point and click on it. Click the "Install the software automatically (Recommended)" button and then click the "Next" button. Click the "Finish" button when the installation has finished. Go to the "My Computer" folder from your "Start" menu and locate the Iomega hard drive icon. Double click the icon to gain access to the external hard drive. Hope it helps.

I have powered on my computer (Dell Dimension 2350), and the Iomega 1TB Prestige USB 2.00 Desk Top Hard Drive Serial No. 97AL67417B, still in warranty, and the light is on the Hard Drive. I have not used...

Beryl,

once youve booted up your dell, you simply plug in the external harddrive (hdd). After you've plugged the hdd in (and make sure you plug the power source to the hdd too if it comes with one) then you wait until it is recognized on your computer. It should simply show up as another drive once you double click the "my computer" icon. Once it does show up, double click the drive to open it up like you would a folder. Then you can simply copy and paste whatever files from your computer into it. Transferring multitudes of files will take time so be patient.

If it is not showing up on you "my computer" screen, then first restart the computer leaving it plugged in and see if it shows up. No? Try to install a driver from a cd it came with. No cd? https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16743

Hope this helped...

Iomega eGo 1TB USB 3.0 Portable portable harddisk 500GB. while connected to PC show an error on desktop "insufficient power on USB hub port" . pls suggest

Few different things are possibilities.
1. Are you connecting the device via USB 3.0 to the USB 3.0 adapter on the computer? 2. Try switching out your USB 3.0 cable for a different one. 3. If you are using the USB 2.0 instead. Make sure you are using the USB Y cable for the device and not just a standard USB 2.0 straight cable. Using the USB Y cable. Plug the cable into the device first, then make sure to plug both USB's into the computer starting with the short side USB then the longer side USB second. Also try using the USB's on the back side of the computer as they will supply more power than the USB's on the front of the computer.

I have just bought an IOMEGA home media network hard drive 1tb and started the install. Before the install completed I encountered the blue screen of death, which identified the file QsFsFltr.sys as the...

Yes, I just had the same problem. All you need to do is go to safe mode on your computer, search for the file "QSFSltr.sys" and delete that filthy *******.
From there you have too choices. 1: use your warranty to get the money back for the **** you bought, with no ability to get support from the company.2: Use it, and don't download any of iomegas software in the future. (can still be used as plug-and-play)

When I try to plug in a second Iomega Prestige drive (an identical 1TB), nothing shows up. I can only access my second drive if the first is unplugged. How can I use both at once? Running Windows 7.

The reason for this is that they both have the same drive letter.
with the "Missing" drive plugged in Right click on "Computer" and go to manage then select "Disk Manager" Right click on your drive and change the drive letter to something else ( say E to drive "G" ) you will receive a warning that some programs may not work and select OK.
Now when you plug in your drives you should see both of them

Hello, I plugged in my iomega 1tb desktop hard drive storage device and the drive does not appear in my drive or computer. I do have the new hardware 'sound' that comes up but I dont have the drive show up...

Iomega 1TB Desktop Hard Drive is a dedicated usb 2.0 plug and play external storage device that has an ability to transfer at 480Mbits/second. having these large capacity storage drive needs a fast connection and additional power source to make sure to run the external unit system properly.

just make sure both power and data cables are properly plugged and connected respectively. if you are using it with a desktop, please always plug your usb connection from the Iomega 1TB external drive to the rear USB port in line where you built-in LAN is.do not plug it in the frontload ports. some motherboard manufacturers uses usb 1 and/or 1.1 only for frontload desktop casing provision.

thank you.

It could be that for some reason it is trying to grab a drive letter that is already being used. As administrator, right click on "My Computer" > Manage > Disk Management. Change the drive letter if needed by choosing "Edit". (You should first check your iomega by connecting it to another computer to make sure it is working properly.) Good luck.

Did you have to install a driver for it initially? Try reinstalling the driver, if so.

I thought most drives were plug and play. If it does not have a driver, trying using a different USB port. Sometimes the ports can freak out and not recognize the item plugged in, especially if you use multiple items in the same port. (ie, cameras, cell phones, printers, etc)

Hope this helps at least some. Good luck!
