TV-Bowing Our TV was purchased in 1996. The picture is bowing now. Sometimes the picture stays on for a minute and then starts to bow again with colored lines. Can you help out with a suggestion? Thank you.

The 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are the cause and is dead.The tv convergence board require these parts to be replaced to solved the convergence problems.The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

problem with unit is convergence--i would resolder convergence ics(they start with stk932-......)if that does not work replace them--if you need the exact part numbers email me at [email protected]

what type of tv do you have. sounds like a loss of covergence. if its

change the electrolytic capacitors in the vertical section of tv. you do need a qualified tv tech to do this repair for sure

Only on newer TV's, yours (I dont think)has the adjustment, if it does it would be in the menu area.

This might not be a DIY if you do not feel comfortable. The repair shops charge about $350.00 to $400.00 for this type of repair.

Im sorry ive been so busy with so many different tvs i have forgotten which set i was asking about? I have one RCA ptk178LA that has bowing at top& bowing upward on bottom it acts like bad cap because sometimes it will all of a sudden snap into full correct picture, then after awhile it will go back to bowing.

Replace convergence IC's--then re-check convergence alignment in servicer mode,if necessary.

ok meoff check the convergence circuit. shadow in the picture is defective convergence circuit... replace a new.

Usually consumer described bowing is bad solder connects

on pins of convergence IC's. If the effort is made to pull the center PC board out,then replace both Stk392-570 IC's for

durability.

 

Note: V-Pin amp and pin out relates to left/right side bowed-in

  issues,a problem not usually found on your model.
