Disconnect all power. Remove the six bolts holding the seal plate to the wet end. Remove the two small allen screws to remove the diffuser. Remove the dust cap from the end of the motor and secure the shaft from moving. If installed, remove the Phillips head screw in the center of the impeller by turning clockwise (left hand threads). You can now remove the impeller by turning counter clockwise, note that you may need an impeller wrench to remove it and a specific tool to hold the shaft while you remove the impeller. Once the impeller is off you can remove the four bolts that hold the motor to the seal plate. This process just needs to be reversed to re-install but you will need a new shaft seal (PS-1000).

I'm trying to remove the motor from the back of my Hayward pump (Northstar). I've loosened the large, round locking housing that secures the motor to the pump. It appears the motor should now just slide...

You didnt mention removing the impeller before trying to "slide it out" Remove the impeller and diffuser first before trying to seperate the two pieces. Lock onto the rear shaft with a 7/16th" wrench while rotating the impeller counter clockwise until remoed. Now you can seperate the two halves.

How does the electric motor couple to the compressor? Is it easy to remove the motor for bearing rplacement?

Some oil lubed compressors as well as oilless types have a bolt on rod journal that can be removed to allow motor to be seperated from pump. Others, however have journal either one piece to motor shaft or journal is pressed on. If you do not see bolt thru journal, most likely it will not seperate. Check with parts manual for more information as some motors have a removable iron core on the shaft (very difficult to remove and re-install). Good luck

Trying to replace motor cant figure out how to remove impeller,

Might be a screw in middle of impeller with reverse thread. If so, remove. Remove back cover of motor, hold center shaft with wrench and unscrew impeller from shaft.

The windshield fluid pump/motor doesn't work. Is there a fuse for this or does the motor need to be replaced?

Try supplying a seperate 12 volt power supply to the positive lead to the fluid pump motor. If it works, it is the switch, but if it does not work, it is the pump motor.

Proline Pump 8D-10-1n11CB. This is for a pool and is leaking from the shaft to the motor

The pump seal is bad on the unit. This requires disassemble of the pump unit. Remove power to the unit, dissasemble pump housing, remove the impeller from the shaft of the motor by removing the allen screw with an allen wrench. Seperate pump housing from motor remove the old seal replace seal. Lube motor shaft with a little clean oil or wd40 to facilitate easy install thru new seal, reassemble in reverse.
