Select knob on P. Menu and go to the end. Find setting reset. There are two settings to reset.
There are two communications methods. Try both.

Use a separate card reader instead of the camera. canon eos 350 rebel xt doesn't recognize usb cable - 58dd167.jpg

Windows updates makes changes to the registry and sometimes causes our equipment like the USB connection between camera and computer to stop working. That's why pros never use anything but a card reader.

I can not get my new HP dv4-2116la computer (with windows 7 as Operating system) to recognize my canon EOS digital Rebel XT camera in order to download my photos.

Consider NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Canon ZoomBrowser or any other photo cataloging program.

Canon EOS 350D Driver Windows 7

You need to change the camera's USB connection mode from "PC" to "Print/PTP" in camera setting menu. After that it should be recognized by Windows 7 without drivers.

Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT will not connect to computer.

Please discard that the USB port or the USB cable are defective. You can do it if you try to hook your camera in other personal computer using the same USB cable. If it works, then follow the next instructions.

Connect your camera to the PC thru the USB cable and turn it on.

If you are using Windows, go to the Control panel - System - Hardware - Devices - and check if there is any device that was not recognized by Windows. Such devices are marked with a yellow question mark.

If so, get into the device item and with right mouse click, select to update the device driver.

If there was not unrecognized device, then you can unistall your USB port driver and then run a change hardware status to recognize the USB port again, then run the update driver routine.
